Over the last ten years, India’s automotive scene has changed at a pace few could have imagined. More cars on the road, more highways connecting cities, and more people travelling than ever before – all of this has pushed the demand for dependable tyres through the roof. From family cars to long-haul trucks, owners now have a crowded marketplace of tyre makers competing for attention.
Names like Apollo, MRF, CEAT and JK have become familiar to most drivers, but they’re not the only ones worth a look. In this guide, we’ve put together a list of ten tyre brands that have earned their place through consistent performance, solid build quality, and products to suit almost every kind of vehicle.
Whether you’re swapping out worn treads on your daily commuter, upgrading your bike for weekend rides, or fitting new rubber on a workhorse truck, this guide should help you find the right brand for the job.
MRF Limited
Talk about tyres in India and sooner or later, the name MRF will come up. Short for Madras Rubber Factory, the roots of the company go back to the mid-1940s, when it was a modest balloon-making unit in Chennai. Eight decades on, it’s grown into the country’s biggest tyre maker, and a brand that sells its products in more than 90 countries around the world.
Its footprint within India is impressive indeed. MRF has several manufacturing plants across the country, including Kottayam, Goa, Tiruvottiyur , Ankenpally, Tiruchirapalli, Trichy, Medak, Puducherry, and Arkonam. The brand manufactures tyres for hatchbacks, sedans, SUVs, motorcycles, trucks, buses, tractors, earth-movers, three-wheelers, and other types of vehicles.
Over the years, MRF has built a reputation for delivering not only everyday commuter tyres but also high-performance radials for luxury cars. It even supplies custom designs specific to vehicles, helping manufacturers maintain their production run.
In 2025, MRF clocked sales worth INR 27,489 crore. Apollo may have edged past it in the domestic car segment, but in the replacement market, MRF still wears the crown. It’s that combination of range, reliability, and sheer scale that keeps the brand firmly in the lead.

Apollo Tyres
Apollo Tyres has built its name on being the brand you’ll often find fitted to a brand-new car, truck, or bus rolling out of the factory. That’s because it leads the OE segment in India. Apollo supplies tyres as standard fitment across a wide range of vehicle categories. It’s also a strong player in the commercial vehicle sector, where durability and cost efficiency matter the most.
Apollo Tyres was established back in 1972. It has its headquarters in Gurgaon, and quickly emerged as one of the top players in the global tyre market. Presently, the brand has its footprint in over 100 countries. It has five manufacturing plants in India. These are located at Limbda, Kalamassery, Chennai, Perambra, and Andhra Pradesh. Apollo Tyres also has its facilities in Hungary and the Netherlands.
Moreover, the company has an overseas office in Amsterdam and R&D centres in both India and Europe. This extensive network ensures that its products meet the demands of different driving conditions across the globe.
It has a broad product lineup, which includes tyres for two-wheelers, passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and off-road vehicles. The Vredestein brand adds a touch of premium performance, while Kaizen and Regal focus on specific commercial segments. Most of Apollo’s offerings come in the value-for-money bracket, but like MRF, it can deliver high-performance and luxury radials when needed.
With a growing presence in the US and a determined push into new markets, Apollo Tyres is steadily closing the gap at the very top. In 2025, the projected sales figure of the tyre brand is INR 26,000 crore.

Bridgestone
Bridgestone rolled into the Indian market back in 1996, and in less than three decades, it has built a reputation that most global brands would envy. While it doesn’t match some of its rivals in sheer variety, what it does offer has earned a loyal following. This is due to its consistently high quality and strong brand presence.
In the Indian market, Bridgestone sells passenger car and SUV tyres while under the Bridgestone Commercial banner, it sells tyres for trucks and buses as well. But that’s not where Bridgestone stops, it’s also looking at selling smart tyre solutions. These are going to be particularly helpful for fleet operators. Using a strain sensor, they’d be able to remotely check various aspects of the tyre: air pressure, load, and wear. Bridgestone has close to 3000 dealers spread across India and currently produces its passenger tyres at two facilities: Pithampur and Chakan. It has a presence in both the OE sector as well as the aftermarket sector.
The current range has widened to accommodate more budget options but on the whole, you get a selection of world-class value tyres at fairly decent prices.
The Indian arm of the company is now under its EMEA business unit, and it was just last year when an expansion budget of Rs 350 crore was announced. This was done to ramp up the passenger-car-tyre production to 20,000 units a day.
CEAT Tyres
The roots of CEAT may not lie in India, but over the years, it has made itself very much at home here. Founded in 1958 and brought under the RPG Group in 1979, the company has quietly mastered the art of delivering value-for-money tyres while maintaining reliability. It’s a name that’s as familiar in small-town workshops as it is in big-city showrooms.
It offers a broad range of products, catering to passenger cars, SUVs, two-wheelers, pickups, farm equipment, earth-movers, construction machinery, and heavy commercial vehicles. CEAT has its manufacturing plants across six cities in India. These include Nashik, Chennai, Halol, Butibori, Mumbai, and Ambernath. The production capacity of the brand per year is 15 million units. While it caters to the OE segment, CEAT also has a decent demand for aftermarket tyres.
Currently, CEAT sells its tyres to over 110 countries across the world. Back home, it has over 4,500 dealers catering to the demands of buyers.
For Q1 FY26, the company reported INR 3,529.4 crore in revenue, which puts it on course to reach INR 14,000 crore for the year. These numbers clearly demonstrate the position of the company.
Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company
Goodyear might not be an Indian brand, but it’s a household name now. It’s been in the country since the early 1960s, and that speaks a lot about the commitment it has towards the Indian market. Globally, it has a wide presence and manufacturing facilities in 21 countries. Locally, Goodyear India manufactures at two of its plants – one in Aurangabad and another in Ballabgarh.
Goodyear produces tyres for passenger cars as well as the farm segment. It is used as both OE and replacement tyres. The extensive product range of Goodyear include radial tyres, rugged tyres for off-roads, and other high-value tyres. The brand has been a part of the Indian industry for long, and it understands the demands of customers in India. In 2025, Goodyear recorded sales figures of INR 2,608 crore.
TVS Eurogrip – (Eurogrip Tyres)
TVS Tyres was established in 1982. Currently, it is being rebranded as TVS Eurogrip. Over the years, TVS has built a strong network of over 3,000 dealers across India and now exports to more than 85 countries, including newer markets like the US and Taiwan. Their two factories, one in Madurai and another in Rudrapur, keep the production steady to meet demand both for OE on new vehicles and for replacement tyres in the aftermarket.
TVS Eurogrip covers a wide range of tyres, everything from two- and three-wheeler tyres to farm tyres and even some specialized types like industrial pneumatic and flotation tyres. But where they really stand out is in motorcycle tyres. TVS brings you the options to choose from different tyre categories within your budget. These include sporty tyres, rugged terrain tyres, or simply the ones needed for daily commutes.
TVS Eurogrip reported a consolidated annual revenue of approximately INR 3,254 crore for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2025, recording an 11.2% growth compared to the previous year.
JK Tyre & Industries
When it comes to Indian motorsports, JK Tyre is a name that immediately comes to mind. The reach of the company is truly global now, with its products available in over 100 countries and manufacturing spread across 12 plants worldwide. Nine of those are right here in India, while three are located in Mexico.
JK Tyres has established a decent footprint in India. Its production plants are located in Mysore, Chennai, Kankroli, and Banmore. With around 4,000 dealers and 500 brand-specific shops, JK Tyre is everywhere you need it to be. The manufacturer produces tyres for all the segments of the market. They make tyres for passenger cars, two-wheelers, commercial vehicles, farm machinery, off-roaders, three-wheelers, and even retreading services.
One thing that sets JK apart is its early adoption of technology. Back in 1977, they launched their first radial tyre, a pretty big deal considering how uncommon radials were in India back then. Today, their innovation efforts are backed by the Raghupati Singhania Center of Excellence in Mysore, developing tyres that cater mostly to the value segment but also have options for premium vehicles.
They’ve also expanded to the smart tech space with their own Smart Tyre, which comes with inbuilt sensors. This technology allows owners to monitor the condition of the tyre in real time. So, you get a handy feature if you’re willing to stay ahead on safety and maintenance.
In the first quarter of 2026, the company clocked INR 3,891 crore in revenue, and is likely to cross INR 15,000 crore over the full year.
Yokohama Rubber Company, Ltd
The Yokohama Rubber Company, Ltd. was established in 1917 in Japan has grown into a global leader in tyre manufacturing with more than a century of expertise.

Yokohama also has its footprint in the Off-Highway Tyre space, after the acquisition of Alliance Tyre Group.
Yokohama has established itself as a trusted premium tyre brand for Indian motorists.
Continental Tyres (Tires)
The reputed German brand, Continental, produces tyres for different types of vehicles in India. The company was established over 150 years ago. In India, its manufacturing plant is based in Modipuram.
Globally, Continental Tires are available across 12 countries, with 13 plants, including India. It has its headquarters across three locations – Hanover, Petaling Jaya, and Fort Mill. In India, Continental primarily manufactures tyres for passenger cars and light trucks. Their lineup covers everything from hatchbacks and sedans to SUVs and premium cars.
They don’t offer a dedicated unidirectional or high-performance tyre for the Indian market. However, their ContiSport model has earned a good reputation among enthusiasts looking for a good balance of grip and comfort.
Looking ahead, Continental is aiming for a 50 to 60 percent growth by 2028. They recently announced an INR 100 crore investment in 2025 to expand the Modipuram plant and broaden their product range. While they no longer manufacture truck tyres in India, their global sales hit a massive €39.7 billion in 2024.
Michelin
Headquartered in France, Michelin’s reach is truly global, serving 171 countries through around 5,000 tyre distribution and service centres worldwide. They also have an impressive 69 R&D centres, including one right here in India.
In India, Michelin caters to a wide range of vehicles, from two-wheelers and passenger cars to commercial and off-road vehicles. The brand manufactures truck and bus tyres locally at its Chennai plant, while other products come in via imports. Their Indian office is based in Gurgaon, which serves as a strategic hub for the company’s operations in the region.
When it comes to passenger cars, Michelin has something for almost every owner. They supply tyres that help you save fuel, as well as the ones built for a smooth, comfortable ride. Michelin also offers rugged off-road tyres for SUVs and high-performance rubber for those who like to push their cars a bit harder on the road. For two-wheelers, whether you’re riding a scooter around town or hitting trails on a high-end bike, Michelin’s range has you covered.
The Chennai plant of Michelin underwent a recent expansion, and Michelin considers India as an important base for research, development, and production. The brand is also prioritizing premium tyres, especially for bigger vehicles, which fits with their reputation for quality and performance.
