Moreover, the Asta trim is equipped with 185/65 R 15 tyres, while the Asta Dual Tone and Asta (O) trims are shod with 195/55 R 16.
Hyundai Elite i20 Recommended Tyre Upsize
Hyundai Elite i20 Variants | Stock Tyre Size | 1st Upsize | 2nd Upsize |
Era | 185/70 R 14 | 195/60 R 15 | 205/55 R 15 |
Magna Executive | 185/70 R 14 | 195/60 R 15 | 205/55 R 15 |
Sportz | 185/70 R 14 | 195/60 R 15 | 205/55 R 15 |
The top end Hyundai Elite i20 variants are already offered with larger tyre sizes leaving nearly no scope for further augmentation. However, the upsizing option is open for the base variants with 14-inch tyres. Here, as the first recommended upsize choice, the 185/70 R 14 tyres can be equipped with wider 195/60 R 15 tyres. With these tyres, Hyundai i20 will bestow a more upright posture as the ground clearance gets increased by 0.1 percent, while the diameter also sees an increment of 0.4 mm.
The second recommended upsize option is in the form of 205/55 R 15 tyres that witnesses a decrease of 1.3 percent with respect to ground clearance. With these large size tyres, there will be a drop of 8.1 mm drop in the diameter due to the extended width of the tyres.
Be it increase in the ground clearance of a car, or decrease, due to upsizing. One thing is for sure that the car will have a better grip on the surface owing to a larger contact area of the tyre. Recommended tyre upsizing brings a sleek and sturdy look to the car. Aspects such as steering response, manoeuvrability and drivability under difficult conditions see an improvement. Furthermore, high-speed cornering and improved braking distance under wet/dry conditions make car driving unruffled.
Remember, if the width is increased it will result in better handling of the car, whereas if there is a change in the rim size due to upsizing it will provide more ground clearance in some cases.
The difference in the ground clearance should be max up to 3% or less than 3% against its actual clearance. If the increase or decrease in the ground clearance is more than 3% then it may affect the functioning of the odometer and might touch the fender or the car body while driving.
Note – The above-mentioned tyre upsizing options may affect odometer reading marginally. These upsizes are suggested as per our upsizing calculation.

Hi,
I own a hyundai grand-i10 petrol sportz variant.
Was looking to upsize the tyre from 165/65-R14, will you suggest the best size also will there be any after effects on other OEM parts. I read the diameter should be the same as OEM tyre to upsize.
I am planing up size my Hyundai I20 2011 Model stock tyre size from 185/65-R14 to 185/70 R-14.
Will this be ok ?
Dear Sachin,
We would advise not to increase the profile as it will reduce the space between the fender and your wheels which will give you a very unpleasant drive experience when encountering bumpy roads.
Thanks

I am planing up size, my Hyundai Elite i20 Sportz – Model 2016, tyre size from 185/70 R 14 to 195/55 R 16.
Will this be O.K. ???
Hi Wasseem have u updated the tyre to 16inch
Currently using stock tyres for my i20 asta 2015 model.
195/55 with R16 .
Are there any upgrade options to
205/55 with R16.
Did not find anything in recommended section.
Hi Sourav,
“Hi, you can upgrade to 205/55 R16 as it will have a difference percentage of 2% which is well within the recommended 3% difference margin. Lower the difference percentage the better for our car as the performance will remain optimal with not much changes in terms of fuel consumption, acceleration, steering response etc. please follow link to explore both options:
https://www.tyremarket.com/Search/Car-Tyres/205-55-R16”
Thanks
I have upgraded my Elite i20 asta tyres from actual size 195/55/R16 to 205/55/R16
I can put my experience with the upgrade
The car looses acceleration. On i20
(even in CRDI) it is significant. Car feels less agile
The suspension takes major impact, the tires had a negative impact my suspension
components and needed a
early replacement, Drop in mileage (in my case 3-4 kmpl) but the Road grip and ground clearance is slightly increased.
My cars model is i20 Asta (o) 2016 it has come with 195/55 R16, can I upsize to 205/55 R16 preferably Michelin Primacy 4st as I require more comfort over rough roads? I also want to know if this upsize would affect any of my suspension components I.e ball joints etc
I want to get new tyres for my elite i20 Petrol Asta (O) 2016 model. Company fitted tyres were Appolo alnac 4G. I have driven my car for only 22,000 kms but I fell into the puncture scam on Pune-satara highway once where I ran my car accidently on broken glass on highway and later on two bikers informed me about puncture shop and I paid 5000/- for 32 punctures in front and back tyres. I read later it’s a scam but since then I am a regular visitor at puncture shops. I am considering Yokohama and Bridgestone but I am confused about the right model of Yokohama as there are earth-1 or s-drive or blue earth as well as there are b250 or b290 of Bridgestone. I read that goodyear and continental are not good as there are tyre burst issues in continental because of it’s low profile nature and high wear and tear in good year and in yoko there are bubble issues as I read online. So I am highly confused. A local shop is suggesting Yokohama eart-1 and another one bridgestone b250. Pirelli and Michellin are expensive and I have heard that they are also puncture prone. I am fed up being a regular customer of puncture shops. So please help.
I WANT A DURABLE TYRE FOR ROUGH ROADS OF MUMBAI. I WAS VALUE FOR MONEY. I DONT CARE IF THEY ARE NOISY. THEY SHOULD BE SOLID. I DONT KNOW WHICH BRAND IS GOOD. I AM OKAY FOR ANY BRAND AS LONG AS ITS DURABLE, LONGLASTING, TRUTWORTHY AND VALUE FOR MONEY.
Please suggest.
Dear Sir,
As per your requirement, the best tyre for your vehicle is https://www.tyremarket.com/Yokohama-BluEarth-AE50-195-55-R-16-Tubeless-87-V-Car-Tyre
This is a very good tyre with excellent mileage and performance.
Thanks
Thank you so much. I was confused between earth1 and blue earth. But you resolved my confusion. Thanks again.
I checked Yokohama blue earth and read about Goodyear assurance triple max. It’s cheaper by almost 1500/- and has good reviews. I am planning to sell my car in a year or two. Should I go for Goodyear or should stick to Yokohama blue earth or earth-1. Also I heard there are some bulging issues in Yokohama tyres.
Dear Sir,
Yokohama blue earth is good tyre but in this segment, our recommendation is Goodyear assurance triple max.
Thanks
Can i get 215/55/ r17 for i20
Dear Sir,
For better performance of the vehicle, the recommended upsize is not more than 3%. The above size is not recommended as per guideline. Please discuss with tyre fitter before doing that.
Thanks

My current i20
sportz variant is having 185/70/R14,i am looking for alloy for 15inch so can i upsize my tyre for 195/60/R15 please suggest
Hi Karthi, yes you can go ahead with 195/60 R15.
elite I20 sports 2017
I have stock rim with the size of 185/70 R14
Planing to upsize it to 195/65 R14
Mine is RIM and not alloy
Will I get the same mileage what I usually get or after this changes what is the mileage which will be dropped.
Need suggestions almost priority
Hi,
we would not recommend this size as you are actually downsizing rather than upsizing. Your speedometer will read slightly incorrectly and there will also be a negative difference in the rim circumference.
Thanks
