One of the world’s leading tyre makers Bridgestone has recently announced its future plan to expand its plants in the Indian cities of Pune (Chakan) and Indore (Kheda). Bridgestone Corp. will be investing about INR 1,940 crore ($304.3 million) over the period of next five years in a phased manner.
As per Kazutoshi Oyama, Bridgestone India Executive Director, the investment shows Bridgestone’s commitment to expand its footprint in the Indian tyre market. It will also empower the company to use advanced manufacturing technology and processes to offer customers superior quality products in the region.
The expansion of Pune and Indore plants will also create about 450 additional jobs. The production capacity of these two plants will also be increased by 15,000 tyres per day putting the daily tyre production number to around 41,000 tyres a day by the year 2022. At present, these pants are engaged in the manufacturing of passenger, light and medium truck tyres.
