Founded in 1931, by Shojiro Ishibashi in Japan, Bridgestone has been able to build up its reputation as one of the world-class manufacturers of the Auto and truck parts and tyres. The group has continuously demonstrated the sustained commitment of employees to provide its customers with world-class products and services. As of 2015, Bridgestone is the leading manufacturer of tyres in the world, although beating Michelin with a narrow margin. Till now, we can count the group having 141 production facilities in 24 countries as of 2015 and are planning to add more countries by 2023. Their foundation is based on Seijitsu-Kyocho which to adhere to the principles of good faith while carrying out your work and to engage with society. The history ranges in several quarters from 1931 (the founding of Bridgestone Company) to 2001 and continues (where the company has achieved excellence in the manufacturing).
Not only that Bridgestone has been producing tyres and tubes for Cars, Trucks, buses, mining vehicles, and aircraft. But also they have diversified their business into manufacturing other products also like Chemical and Industrial Products, Sporting goods, Bicycles and others. The Japanese company also has been supplying tyres to the Formula One since 1995 so to improve Bridgestone’s name value in European markets and to beat its arch-rival Michelin and since then has seen its name on various others sporting competition such as MotoGP and Yachting. Their tires account for about 80% of the group’s sales. Recently in 2013, they revealed Second generation “Air Free Concept Tire” or called as Non-Pneumatic tires. It was designed with load-bearing capabilities, to add thrill to driving performance. Their passenger tyres come in performance wise such as Ecopia (Fuel-Saving Performance), Potenza (Road Gripping Performance), Turanza (Luxury Performance), Dueler (Versatile Performance) and Blizak (Snow And Ice Performance). As far as motorcycle tyres are concerned they are further sub-divided into On Road, Off Road and Race Use tyres. Added to this, in commercial tyres one look for Van, Truck and Bus tyres.
Not only they are investing in manufacturing but also they have come up with the Global Environmental Mission Statement so as to ensure a healthy environment for current and future generations.
