Duster is developed and designed by Renault’s Romanian subsidiary, Dacia. The launch of Renault Duster opened up a new segment of crossover SUVs in the country. After four years of its launch, the car got updated in the year 2016 which gave it a fresh lease of life. The city SUV is available in 5 different variants namely STD, RXE, RXL, RXS and RXZ. Over the year, the competition has spruced up in compact SUV segment. But still, Duster with all its novel charm competes with Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki S-Cross, Ford EcoSport and Nissan Terrano in its class.

On the outside, the facelifted Renault Duster gets the redone fascia. The front radiator grille is refreshed, headlamps have been revised while the air intake at the front also gets a new design. Duster also receives new rear and front scuff plates, tail lamps has been reworked upon while the ORVMs are electrically adjustable with turn indicators. Looking at the overall design of the crossover, it remains the same and retains its squat stance. At the rear, not much has been changed but the exhaust pipe has been integrated into rear diffuser assembly. The most noticeable change in Duster is the modified roof rails to increase the support.

The new Renault Duster receives an updated feature list. The car gets touchscreen infotainment system with USB, AUX and Bluetooth Connectivity. The comfort zone is further amplified with features such as automatic Climate control, cruise control and height adjustable driving seat with lumbar control. On the safety front too, the car leaves no stone unturned with features such as ABS with EBD, dual front airbags, Hill Start Assist and reverse parking camera.

Mechanically, Duster is available in both petrol and diesel drivetrains. The 1.5 L petrol engine is capable of delivering the power of 106 PS at 5600 rpm and max torque of 142 Nm at 4000 rpm.The mill comes mated to 5-speed manual as well as optional CVT 6-speed gearbox. On the diesel front, Renault Duster gets 1.5 L dCi mill that can generate the output of 85 PS at 3750 rpm and peak torque of 200 Nm at 1750 rpm. It’s another powerful diesel engine trim delivers the output of 110 PS and yields the peak torque of 245 Nm, paired with 6-speed manual transmission and 6-speed AMT gearbox. Renault Duster in the updated avatar launched in 2016 remains the only compact SUV to get a 4WD option.
