The Hero Glamour is a 125-cc premium commuter motorcycle from Hero Motocorp. It’s manufactured at the company’s plant in Jaipur. For 2020, the Hero Glamour comes with a raft of changes, the biggest being a BS6-compliant engine. For INR 72,400 (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Hero Glamour is a good bargain.
The Hero Glamour has traditionally been a lazy commuter, best experienced at between 60 and 80 kph. Mileage has always been a strong suit, and previous models have returned upwards of 60 kmpl when ridden gently. The seating position is upright, with good lumbar and thigh support, and a narrow tank that further enhances the ergonomics. The 125-cc engine puts out 10.9 bhp of power and 10.9 Nm of torque, mated to a five-speed gearbox. Top speed is around 110kmph, but the motorcycle starts buzzing at around 70 kmph.
The Hero Glamour’s biggest rivals are the Honda Shine and the Bajaj Pulsar 125. While the Honda Shine is a little more expensive, the Bajaj Pulsar 125 consumes more fuel while offering more performance. The Hero Glamour comes in two variants – one with a front disc and a cheaper one with a drum brake in front.
Hero Glamour Tyres – An Overview
The Hero Glamour is a basic commuter and does not come with any of the fancy goodies you might expect from a more premium brand. Nonetheless, everything on the motorcycle is designed to be light, and vibrate as little as possible. The motorcycle’s biggest trump card is fuel efficiency, and even the tyres are geared towards low fuel consumption. In spite of Hero offering the Glamour in two variants (Disc and Drum), the tyre sizes are the same. They’re listed below

The Hero Glamour can be equipped with either a drum or a disc brake at the front. The rear wheel is equipped with a drum brake in both the models. If you opt for drum brakes on both wheels, the bike comes with something Hero calls ‘Integrated Braking System’, which simultaneously activates the brakes on both wheels if either the brake lever or pedal is depressed.
Hero Glamour – Features and Specifications
In a bid to improve fuel efficiency, Hero developed a number of key engine technologies to be equipped on all motorcycles sold in the premium commuter segment. The instrument cluster is semi-digital, and that helps lower the sticker price. The Glamour is also equipped with the idle-stop-start technology that first made an appearance on the Splendor a few years back. Called ‘i3s’, it shuts down the engine in traffic or in other situations when the bike is at idle. On depressing the clutch, it automatically restarts. For the new 2020 Hero Glamour, there’s Auto Sail, which allows one to creep in traffic without downshifting. The fuel tank in the Glamour holds 10 litres of petrol, and that should give you a realistic range of 500 km. More specs below

Hero Glamour – Tyres
The Hero Glamour is aimed at extracting the most distance out of the least amount of fuel. The one thing that really helps, in this case, is a narrow tyre profile in the front and the rear. Upfront, the Glamour uses an 80/100-18 tyre, which is code for — 80 mm tyre width, 100% profile, 18-inch rim size. Outback, the Hero Glamour uses a 100/80-18, which is a 100mm-wide tyre with an 80% profile fitted to an 18-inch rim. Also, the tyres are also sold as 2.75 R18 (front) and 3.00 R18(rear).
List of Most Recommended Tyres for Hero Glamour
The front and rear tyres for the Hero Glamour are both 18-inches. But, the tyres are 80mm and 100mm-wide in the front and rear positions respectively. In addition to the slim tyres, the motorcycle is a low-speed, low-power machine. And, since the motorcycle is offered to buyers looking for value for money, the tyres have to combine grip, life and low cost.

Hero Glamour – Best Tyres
Out of all the brands in the market, we still recommend going for a make that makes both front and rear tyres as a set. If the tread pattern matches, the ride and handling will remain predictable, especially if you’re in an area filled with bad roads.
Here are our recommendations –
Michelin Sirac Street -Deep blocks and strong shoulders for good grip on all roads
CEAT Gripp X3 – The Gripp X3 is actually stock equipment for a number of motorcycle brands, and that is proof of the all-round performance it offers.
MRF Nylogrip Plus – The MRF Nylogrip Plus features a siped block design & Flat centre design which is great for good and bad roads.
The Hero Glamour is a great machine if you’re looking to spend a lot of time in traffic, and on inter-city roads at speeds under 70 kph. The motorcycle is a lightweight, economical option and is the first vehicle for many families. If you’re planning to ride with a pillion, select a tyre with the highest load rating for the given price. Generally, this is directly proportional with the life of a tyre, and the cost. In any case, you’ll never go wrong with proven brands like MRF, CEAT, Michelin, etc.
cost effective, good mileage, better design, 5 gear, smooth ride, good , torque power and pickup in its class, idle-stop-start technology is a good commuter bike
