Maruti Swift Car Tyres
The current generation Swift comes equipped with 165/80 R 14 and 185/65 R 15 radial tubeless tyres. Here, the petrol variants – LXi, VXi, VXi AMT and diesel variants – LDi, VDi, VDi AMT are shod with 165/80 R 14 tyres. Moreover, the ZXi, ZXi AMT, ZXi+ (petrol) and ZDi, ZDi AMT, ZDi+ (diesel) are fitted with bigger 185/65 R 15 tyres.
Maruti Swift Recommended Tyre Upsize
Maruti Swift Variants | Stock Tyre Size | 1st Upsize | 2nd Upsize |
LXi, VXi, VXi AMT (Petrol) | 165/80 R 14 | 185/70 R 14 | 195/60 R 15 |
LDi, VDi, VDi AMT (Diesel) | 165/80 R 14 | 185/70 R 14 | 195/60 R 15 |
ZXi, ZXi AMT, ZXi+ (Petrol) | 185/65 R 15 | 195/60 R 15 | 205/55 R 15 |
ZDi, ZDi AMT, ZDi+ (Diesel) | 185/65 R 15 | 195/60 R 15 | 205/55 R 15 |
Besides the stock tyre choice, the Maruti Swift base variants (with 165/80 R 14 tyres) can be fitted with wider 185/70 R 14 tyres to bestow a low profile appearance with a negligible drop of less than 0.8 percent in terms of ground clearance alongside a 5 mm decrease in the diameter due to the width of the tyres. Furthermore, the second recommended upsizing option comes in the form of 195/60 R 15 tyres with a slight decrease of 0.7 percent in the ground clearance and a 4.6 mm decline in the diameter, again due to the thickness of tyres.
Likewise, the top end variants with stock 185/65 R 15 tyres can be fitted with 195/60 R 15 tyres, as first recommended upsize. Moreover, if the said upsize option is not enough and you are looking for real low profile appearance, more grip and sportiness you can switch to 205/55 R 15 as second recommended upsize alternative. Here with the 195/60 R 15 tyres, the ground clearance will come down by 1 percent, while the diameter gets reduced by 6.5 mm owing to the width of the tyres. Similarly, with 205/55 R 15 tyres (as second upsize option) there is a decrease in the diameter aspect by a big 15 mm along with 2.4 percent cut in the actual ground clearance of the car.
The best part of tyre upsizing is that it bestows a sleek and solid look to the car and improves steering response resulting in better drivability and stability. What’s more, wide tyres offer excellent grip and traction levels under wet and dry conditions coupled with improved braking distance and confident high-speed cornering.
Remember, if the width is increased it will result in better handing of the car, whereas if there is a change in the rim size due to upsizing it will provide more ground clearance in some cases.
Moreover, the difference in the ground clearance should be max up to 3% or less than 3% against its actual clearance. In case, if the increase or decrease in the ground clearance is of more than 3% then it may affect the functioning of the odometer and might touch the fender or the car body while driving.
Note – The above-mentioned tyre upsizing options may affect odometer reading marginally. These upsizes are suggested as per our upsizing calculation.

Can i up size my swift vdi 2013 model tyre to 205/55/r15.it showing the diameter difference is 1.99 %.is it k
Hi Sir,
The 2013 Maruti Suzuki Swift VDi model comes with 165/80 R14 and changing the tyre size to 205/55 R15 is in fact a down size and not an up-size because the difference sits at -2.11 which is in the negative. The difference is not calculated by only considering diameter but a lot of other factors such as width, profile etc. but if you really wish to have wider tyres and up- size you can opt for 195/70 R14 which has a positive difference of 1.2%. Please follow link to explore: https://www.tyremarket.com/Search/Car-Tyres/195-70-R14
Thanks
Which size of tyre is the best one for zdi 2011model
Hi,
I have a Swift VDi 2012 and it’s high time that I change the Tyres, could you please guide which one should I go with:
• STOCK TYRE SIZE
• 185/70 R 14
• 195/60 R 15
I drive approx. 10,000 – 12,000 Kms. a year
Thanks in advance.
Dear Abhijeet,
“Hi, Maruti Suzuki Swift VDi 2012 model comes with 165/80 R14. And we always suggest you stick to stock tyres as they are the best for your car unless you have a very specific upgrade that needs to be supported. If your yearly usage of 10-12K km if mostly city use with occasional touring, you can opt for Apollo Amazer 3G max or Goodyear Assurance Duraplus 2 as both these tyres provide decent grip with excellent mileage. But if your priority is excellent grip and comfortable drive experience you can opt for Yokohama Earth-1 E-400 as these tyres use a softer compound when compared to the others. The softer compound also allows really good surface impact absorption. Please follow links to explore the options:

This change can be made but its a downsize as compared to an upsize. There will be a -20.4mm or -1.05% difference in circumference.

I am using 185 70 R15 tyre in Swift 2014 it this fine
Hello,
if you’re not facing any major issues regarding steering, mileage, or incorrect speedometer reading, then you can go ahead but technically this size is slightly outside the suggested upsize range for this vehicle.
Thanks
Can we increased the ground clearance with changing of tyre size for Swift VXI
Hi,
yes you can definitely increase the ground clearance. You would have to increase the overall diameter of the tyre. This is done by increasing the aspect ratio, wheel diameter or both in some cases. Let us know your current tyre size and we can help you out with compatible upsize options.
Thanks
Hi Team,
I am having Swift dzire, model 2015. Which comes with stock tyres 165/80 R14
I am planning to upgrade to 195/55/R16 with 16 inches Maruti OEM alloys 4 PCD, 6J from Fronx.
Is it ok to do that? Will there is issues of tyres touching fenders/ bumpers while driving 4 or 5 people?
Please provide your suggestion
Hi,
the size you mentioned – 195/55 R16 is a compatible upsize so you can go ahead with that & it is only a slight upsize so we do not think there will be any issue regarding the tyres touching the ground, etc.
Thanks
