All the five variants of Hyundai i10 hatchback car sport 155/80 R 13 tyres. As a first recommended tyre upsize option, the stock tyres can be swapped with 175/70 R 13 tyres. These set of tyres will provide the i10 with a low profile look due to a decrease in the ground clearance by 0.5 percent alongside a 3 mm drop in the diameter owing to the width of the tyres. However, if you tend to give i10 a more upright posture then you can opt for the second recommended tyre upsize choice that is 14-inch wheels in the form of 175/65 R 14 tyres. This will not only increase the ground clearance by 0.8 percent but also provide a 4.9 mm increase in the diameter of the tyre due to bigger rim size.

There are many benefits if you choose to go for recommended tyre upsizing. With Hyundai i10 tyre upsizing, you get two options, the first upsize gets you low profile while the second upsizing lets you enjoy higher ground clearance. First tyre upsize (i.e. 175/70 R 13) provides a slightly low profile and stable look to the car ensuring better manoeuvrability and grip under wet and dry conditions. On the other hand, the second tyre upsize (i.e. 175/65 R 14) offers better ground clearance making potholed and speed breaker filled city drives easy, and to the confident upright posture of the car.
Remember, if the width is increased it will result in better handling of the car, whereas if there is a change in the rim size due to upsizing it will provide more ground clearance in some cases.
Moreover, the difference in the ground clearance should be max up to 3% or less than 3% against its actual clearance. In case, if the increase or decrease in the ground clearance is of more than 3% then it may affect the functioning of the odometer and might touch the fender or the car body while driving.
Note – The above-mentioned tyre upsizing options may affect odometer reading marginally. These upsizes are suggested as per our upsizing calculation.

Hi, the upsize you have mentioned is just slightly out of the recommended zone of upsize for your size so we would not recommend it.

I have an 2010 model i10 Asta (Automatic). I’m looking to upgrade to allow wheels and the second tyre upgrade in your article above (175/65 R14). Could you suggest the impact on the drive, will these touch the fender of the car during highway drives etc ? What is the impact on highway and fast drives ?
