Goodyear Eagle-360 Wins Prominent ‘Good Design’ Award

The Good Design award for the year 2016 in the ‘transportation’ category has been conferred to the Goodyear Eagle-360 Tyre by the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies. Incepted in the year 1950, the Good Design award is one of the most celebrated and oldest award programs across the globe. The futuristic concept tyre by Goodyear has been rewarded for its one of the kind design approach and unique shape.

The Chicago Athenaeum Museum received thousands of application from manufacturers and graphic design companies across the globe. However, only over 900 product designs and graphics were found admirable for the 2016 Good Design award. The Eagle-360 tyre, which is now a valuable piece of the Museum’s esteemed Permanent Design Collection, will be featured in the 2016-2017 Good Design Year book.

The Goodyear Eagle-360 tyre was uncovered this year at the Geneva International Motor Show. The circular shaped, 3-D printed tyre underlines the legendary American tyre manufacturer’s futuristic vision alongside offers an intelligent and inspiring answer to the future need, especially for the autonomous/driverless driving.

The innovative shape of the Goodyear Eagle-360 could add to the safety and manoeuvrability of the revolutionary autonomous mobility in near future. Here, the spherical shape of the tyre together with active technology not only allows better manoeuvrability of the tyre but also lessens the chances of a slip-up from potential risks.

Mr. Olivier Rousseau, Vice President Consumer PBU EMEA at Goodyear stated that they are glad to receive this great recognition which couldn’t have been made possible without the incredible work done by our designers and engineers for the development of the Goodyear Eagle-360 tyre. This attests the fact that Goodyear is rightfully the forerunner in the industry innovation and leads the way for contemporary technologies.

My need for speed began at a very early age and I realised this as soon as I got my first bicycle at the age of 8. When all the other kids would break downhill I would pedal harder just to go faster and enjoy the thrill. I was just 14 years old at the time and got to ride as a pillion with an older acquaintance. This one short ride influenced my every decision in terms of the bikes I want to own. As of today I’m 26 years old and a proud owner of a Yamaha Fz15 version 2.0 and a Kawasaki Ninja 650 2014 model having clocked a decent 30k Kms only while touring, waiting to clock 1000s more as riding makes me feel whole again after enduring the dismal routines of life.
