Currently, in its second generation, Figo comes with a conventional yet powerful choice of petrol and diesel engines. One of the bestsellers for Ford India across the segment, the Figo comes packed with appealing exterior design, feature-packed spacious cabin and value for money price tag. Ford Figo Recommended Tyre Upsizing

Ford Figo Variants Stock Tyre Size 1st Upsize 2nd Upsize
Base 175/65 R 14 185/65 R 14 195/55 R 15
Ambiente 175/65 R 14 185/65 R 14 195/55 R 15
Trend 175/65 R 14 185/65 R 14 195/55 R 15

Titanium Plus 175/65 R 14 185/65 R 14 195/55 R 15

The new generation Ford Figo offers a ground clearance of 174 mm, while the earlier generation model came with a low 168 mm of ground clearance and the same set of 14-inch tyres. Be it any model, the tyre upsizing option is always open. The first recommended upsizing alternative comes in the form of 185/65 R 14 tyres. With these wider tyres the ground clearance will be elevated by 2 percent and alongside there will be a 13 mm increase in the diameter aspect.

Likewise, next recommended upsize option is 195/55 R 15 tyres. With these set of broader tyres, the ground clearance will go up by a good 2.1 percent, while the increase in the diameter of the tyre will stand at 12.4 mm. The 15-inch radial tyres will definitely provide a real sporty look to the car as seen in the exclusive Figo S trim, which is dubbed as the Figo Sports Edition.

Here both the tyre upsize options of the Ford Figo endows with a better ground clearance eventually bringing more sturdy and confident stance to the hatchback. With broad tyres, Figo will offer better grip on the road. In addition to superior traction, the car will also offer better steering response, manoeuvrability, enhanced wet/dry braking and drivability.

Keep in mind that if there is an increase in the width of the tyres it will positively affect the handling of the car. Meanwhile, alteration in the rim with respect to its size due to upsizing will directly present with more ground clearance in some stances.

As per a thumb rule under recommended tyre upsizing, the ground clearance can be of maximum up to 3 percent or less than 3 percent as opposed to its actual ground clearance. However, if the increase or decrease in the ground clearance surpasses the 3 percent mark there are all chances that it will affect the operation of the speedometer, alongside there is a high probability of the tyre (while driving) banging against the fender or the car body.
Note – The above-mentioned tyre upsizing options may affect odometer reading marginally. These upsizes are suggested as per our upsizing calculation.

  • For new Figo can I go for tyre upsizing from 175/65 R 14 to 185/65 R 14,is their any harm to our car operations and warranty from Ford will applicable and the it is recommend by the Ford officially please clear my doubts.
    Ramesh.

    • Dear Ramesh Kumar

Yes, you can upsize your car tyres from 175/65R14 to 185/65R14 as this size is under the permissible limit of tyre upsizing. The warranty on tyres is given by the tyre manufacturers only, so whenever you buy a new tyre a fresh warranty will start on those new tyres. However, please understand the warranty policy clearly before purchasing the tyres.

  • how about an upsize to 195/60 r14 in stock alloys of figo aspire?
    what would be the significant difference between 175/65 r14 ; 185/65 r14 and 195/60 r14.

kindly share the Advantages and disadvantages of 195/60 r14 and 185/65 r14.

    • Hi Prakash,

195/60 R14 will drop the fuel economy but will get better road grip, especially on long drives. This gives more driving comfort.
195/60 R14 there will be changed in odometer by 5% and 185/65 R14 will increase the ground clearance.

      Thanks

    • Dear Binoy,

Hi, Your stock tyre size is 175/65 R 14. If you plan on up-sizing to 185/70 R 14, the difference percentage will be around 5% which is not advisable due to various reasons such as decreased ground clearance, decreased space between your wheels and fenders etc. However, 185/65 R 14 would be a better option. • Hi I have FORD Figo 2018 sports edition ( Titanium). By default company fitted tyre size was 195/55 R15, and I want to upgrade it to 195/60 R15. As your article shows its 2nd upsize (max limit) is 195/55. Will size 195/60 effects negatively in anyways?

    • Hi,

Assuming that your car’s stock tyres are 175/65 R 14, Up-sizing to 195/ 55 R 15 will be safer than 195/60 R 15 because the profile will wider which will risk lowering the clearance between your wheels and fenders which will compromise your car’s handling especially while turning and cornering. follow link to explore further: https://www.tyremarket.com/Search/Car-Tyres/195-55-R15

  • hello there, If I upgrade from 175/55/R14 to 195/55/R15 for ford figo, What will be the cost of the upgrade, considering ill upgrade at the time of the purchase of the vehicle. Can i sell the original tyres and wheels and adjust the amount towards the new purchase. Thanks

    • Dear Rajesh,

No, Maruti Suzuki Swift comes with either 165/80 R14 or 185/70 R 14 depending on the variant and year. Whereas the Ford Figo comes with 175/65 R 14. Changing to the swift size tyres will mean up-sizing and not in the correct proportions.

      Thanks

  • Hi, I own an Etios Liva G with 175/65 R14 tyre profile and an Octavia with almost brand new 195/65 R15 tyres. I will be selling the Octavia very soon and want to install the 15 inch alloys and the same tyres from my Octavia to Etios Liva G. Is there going to be any problems in this tyre swapping in terms of driveability? Also, for how much time can I keep the tyres from Octavia on shelf and what’s the most suitable way to store the tyres till the time tyres on my Etios Liva get old enough for replacement. Also, will there be any tyre pressure difference once the swap is successful.

    Thanks & Regards

  • Dear sir,

I have Ford figo aspire 2018 model & existing tire size is 175 65 r14 and I want to up size 185 70 r14 pls advise whether it compatible or not.
If not required reason to know

Then my friend using same car with 185 70 r14 tyre size from past 2years it’s running fine and no issue is face till.

    • Dear Mr. Suresh, We understand your query regarding tyre upsizing, As per the width & Profile calculation the upsizing of 175/65 R 14 to 185/70 R 14 is not compatible, As this can cause decreased performance, inaccurate speedometer readings, and potential damage to the vehicle’s suspension and other components.
