Ceat Introduces ‘Rare’ : Puncture-Safe Tyres For Motorcycles

Puncture-Safe Tyres For Motorcycles

India’s leading tyre maker, Ceat, has always been a forerunner in terms of innovation and continuing the same legacy this time it has introduced an all-new range of puncture-resistant or puncture-safe motorcycle tyres. The new tyres are designed and developed at the tyre manufacturer’s R&D facility in Halol, Gujarat. To begin with, in the country, the company has initially launched the first set of tyres in the southern states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, as after-market fitments.

Ceat has planned the launch of new motorcycle tyres in phases, beginning with South India, soon the tyres will be introduced in the other states of India. And afterwards, it will be supplied to the original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Sighting the uniqueness of the product Mumbai-headquartered tyre firm has also filed for the exclusive rights.

Mr. Nitish Bajaj, Vice President, Marketing, Ceat stated that the OEMs take the time to decide on any new product introduced in the market and are price conscious too. The company has always looked forward in terms of improvement in every segment be it commercial vehicles, passenger cars, two-wheelers or other special segments, he further stated.

The particular puncture-safe tyres come with a special gel, which prevents the tyre from losing the air at the time of nail prick. As soon as the nail is removed from the tyre the gap created by the nail is filled with the special gel.

The gel found in the puncture-safe tyres is basically a sticky, gum-like substance that is layered inside the tyre in the tread area. The sealant material locks the space created by the piercing of the sharp object and the air pressure loss is stopped immediately leading to no requirement of instantaneous repair.

The flagship company of RPG Enterprises, Ceat Ltd., has three manufacturing units located in Maharashtra state at Bandhup, Nashik, Nagpur and one in Halol in Gujarat, while one of its plants is situated in Sri Lanka.

The lately established manufacturing facility in Nagpur has the capacity to roll out 1 million units per month. Country’s tyre market is projected at INR 60,000 crores and is increasing at nearly 6-7% p.a., whereas the tyre brand closed with the profits of INR 6500 crore last year.
