Bridgestone Gets “Tyre Manufacturing Innovation of the Year 2017” Award

An independent jury of 27 top tyre industry experts has voted Bridgestone’s new tyre building system EXAMINATION as the “Tyre Manufacturing Innovation of the Year” in 2017 Tyre Technology International Awards which happened during Tyre Technology Expo – 2017 in Hanover, Germany.

The judges appreciated the efforts of Bridgestone in the use of (Artificial Intelligence) AI in a tyre manufacturing plant. Its first application was made in 2016 at the Hikone plant in Japan which proved to be so successful that it was quickly decided to implement EXAMINATION more widely. The system combines ICT with Artificial Intelligence to greatly improve quality and enhance productivity in the factory. Later it was introduced in the Tatabanya plant in Hungary and in its new plant in Russia too.

Bridgestone’s innovative EXAMINATION system is a proof that the tyre industry is at the cutting edge of production technology.

This is for the 6^th time that the Bridgestone has won a Tyre Technology Award since 2008, when the programme was instituted.

It’s earlier awards were:

1. Won the inaugural award the Tyre Manufacturer Award of the Year.
2. It has also won technology awards for its Contact Area Information Sensing Technology (CAIS) and Ologic Reduced Rolling Resistance Technology in 2013
3. The Environmental Achievement of the Year award in 2013 for the new Americas Technical Centre in the USA.

Bridgestone has also competed for – Bartell Machinery Systems’, BeadView, Kobe Steel’s Librota-GS Tyre uniformity machine, Mitsubishi’s MR-EX intermeshing moxer and ROmiLL’s NSR preheater.
