After eventful Media days, the Day 3 of the Auto Expo 2018 – Motor show saw a large number of people coming to see this mega event at India Exposition Mart Limited, Gautam Budh Nagar district. In the midst of the fun-filled activities and a fantastic display of cars, a group of activists performed a street play on road safety today. The presence of Bollywood stars has added more glamour and excitement to Asia’s biggest auto show.
The main attractions of the third day were:
- With a height of 12 feet, JK Tyre has displayed India’s largest tyre at the auto expo. This gigantic tyre has been manufactured by JK Tyre & Industries Ltd.
- The TVS VR Gaming zone has displayed the best of technology and automobiles and got huge support from the public.
- John Abraham made an appearance at first look of Yamaha’s all-new R3. In this new version, technology has gone a notch up now with now a dual channel ABS combined with 290mm floating type. The all-new R3 is priced competitively and is open for booking today. Yamaha took the glamour to another level and organized ramp-walk along with superbikes.
- Honda Cars India conducted an insightful Q/A session with the audience at Hall 9 of this biennial event.
- Vintage car lovers thronged Hall 12 and thoroughly enjoyed an exhibition of exquisite Vintage Cars, showcasing 70 golden years of Indian mobility.
Also in the day, Sugato Sen, Deputy Director General, SIAM addressed people and told that by 2026, the Indian Automotive Industry will be among top three of the world in engineering, manufacturing and exporting vehicles and components. He also said that SIAM supports investment, domestic value addition and employment.
Earlier in the Media Days (7, 8 February), the Auto Expo 2018 saw a star galore with cricketing and Bollywood personalities making their presence felt during this event. Some of the major attractions during the Media days were:
- One of the greatest cricketers of all-time Sachin Tendulkar unveiled the BMW 6 GT. It was also announced that BMW i8 Roadster would make it to the Indian roads by the end of the year.
- 2018 Mini Countryman was also unveiled which will be Made in India
- Toyota also announced that their Toyota Yaris sedan would arrive in May with a 1.5-litre engine in CVT and MT variants.
- Hero debuted the XPulse concept adventure tourer in India during Auto Expo 2018
- India’s largest car maker Maruti’s electric concept — the e-Survivor displayed the working model for its coming generation of hybrid electric vehicles. 4WD and autonomous, connected and electric is the mantra behind e-Survivor. Maruti’s has the FACE philosophy for the e-Survivor: Four-wheel, Autonomous, Connected and Electric.
- It was also announced that the new G4 Rexton will be launched this year as a Mahindra product. It comes with a 7-spd automatic transmission and a 2.2Ltr, 178bhp, 420Nm diesel engine. Mahindra’s flagship electric car E2O also got a facelift too.
- Mahindra Rise unveiled two electric shared and personal mobility solutions called Atom and UDO.
- Suzuki Motorcycles Burgman Street maxi-scooter unveiled alongside Suzuki GSX-S750 street fighter.
- Tata Motors showcased their 45X concept premium hatchback.
It is expected that the remaining public days of Auto Expo 2018 will see a large number of people coming and exploring the latest automobiles and technologies.
