The 4th edition of India Rubber Meet (IRM) has been postponed in the wake of recent tragic floods in the state of Kerala, the Indian Rubber Board informed media. The event was scheduled at Grand Hyatt Hotel in Kochi during 30th to 31st August 2018. The theme for this year’s IRM was “Towards a sustainable rubber value chain”. Also, various topics of importance related to the rubber industry were scheduled to be discussed during the two-day event. Around 700 delegates including some of the world’s well-known rubber experts from home and away were supposed to attend this year’s event.
IRM’s importance lies in the fact that it is a platform where the exchange of information, as well as interaction, takes place among all the stakeholder associations of the rubber industry. The previous three events have been a great success and this year was supposed to be the biggest event so far.
Indian rubber industry is over a century old and has seen various changes over this long period of time. The formation of the Rubber Board and related associations came into effect as part of the greater vision of catering the needs of all the stakeholders involved in the rubber industry while promoting the rubber trade in the country as well as abroad. IRM too is an extension of these efforts and is a joint venture of the Rubber Board and the stakeholder associations in rubber and allied sectors.
The organising committee informed in a statement that the new dates of the 4th Indian Rubber Meet will be announced soon.
