Â The 1.2 L petrol engine is a lightweight, all-aluminium, 4-valve, DOHC setup that produces a maximum power of 85 PS at 6000 rpm alongside a peak torque of 114 Nm at 3500 rpm. Likewise, the Revotorq is 1.05 L, 3-cylinder turbo-diesel motor with cast iron block, 4-valve, aluminium head, twin-cam mechanism giving out 70 PS of power at 4000 rpm and highest torque value of 140 Nm at 1800-3000 rpm. Both the engines feature City and Eco drive-modes for better fuel mileage. The diesel engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the petrol motor comes with a choice of 5-speed manual or AMT gearbox.
Fantastic Fuel Efficiency
Tata Motors has worked extensively on the frugality of the two engines. And as a result, has managed to extract the best out of both. The Tiago petrol receives a best in class ARAI certified fuel efficiency rating of 23.48 kmpl, while the diesel variant stands at 27.28 kmpl.  Tiago’s nearest competitor Maruti Suzuki Celerio delivers 23.1 kmpl and 27.6 kmpl for the petrol and diesel engines respectively.
