Onkar Kanwar Of Apollo Tyres Gets Hungarian ‘Order Of Merit’
Recently, on the recommendation of the Prime Minister of Hungary, Apollo Tyres’ Onkar. S. Kanwar has been awarded with Officers Cross (Civilian Division) of the ‘Order of Merit’ of Hungary by Janos Ader, the President of Hungary. The ‘Order of Merit’ was officially handed over to Mr. Kanwar in Delhi at a special event held by the Ambassador of Hungary to India. This honour was given in recognition of the Apollo Tyres’ large scale investment in the east European nation that has helped in creating new jobs in the country.
Apollo Tyres has invested INR. 3,977 crore (Euro 475 million) to set up a Greenfield facility in Gyongyoshalasz, Hungary that manufactures passenger car and commercial vehicle tyres including both the Apollo and Vredestein brands for the European market. Currently, the facility employs about 800 people of which around 95 percent are Hungarian nationals. This is Apollo’s second production facility in Europe and sixth worldwide.
