Delhi-based tyre mogul, JK Tyre will soon get its several research centers under a single umbrella by establishing a world class Research and Development (R&D) center in Mysuru, Karnataka. The well-known tyre brand’s Vikrant manufacturing unit recently rolled out its 10 millionth truck radial tyre. The illustrious radial tyre was unveiled by a robot.
On combining of all research centers scattered across various regions in the country Mr. Raghupati Singhania, Chairman and Managing Director, JK Tyre stated that the R&D in Mysuru will be unique in many ways and will serve as a center of excellence in India. The research hub will feature up-to-date equipment and mechanism together with deployment of expert scientists and engineers possessing practical skills on raw material resource, design and development, aesthetics and formation.
The technological advancement has played a vital role in the tyre firm’s growth and to continue its dominance over the market it has invested largely in research and product development operations. The leading tyre manufacturer, which exports its products to over 100 countries worldwide, has been arming every aspect of its business be it manufacturing, transportation, sales, dealership network etc., with latest technologies, Mr. Singhania maintained.
The company is striving to go as environment-friendly as possible and this is not limited to manufacturing processes and plants, it includes products too. The green tyres produced by JK Tyre have low rolling resistance that assists in better fuel economy. Alongside, it is also working towards lessening their carbon footprint (CO2) levels by reducing energy and water consumption, which are two important resources in tyre production. The company claims to have cleared the ‘Carbon Footprint Verification Process’ as laid by the British Standards Institute and is the first Indian company to achieve so. Furthermore, JK Tyre’s production units have zero water discharge alongside the company has implanted over 5 lakh trees around the various locations of the facility.
In India, JK Tyre owns 9 manufacturing units, while internationally it has 3 plants in Mexico that have capacity of 350 lac tyres per year.
