These days several Indian companies are trying their luck in the most lucrative or say, booming aviation market, by contributing to supply components to the aircraft manufacturers. In line with the same spirit is JK Tyre, which is mulling to enter into the Indian aviation segment, as the country finds itself in the list of rapidly growing aviation market across the globe. This was revealed by Mr. Raghupati Singhania, Chairman and Managing Director, JK Tyre, in an interview.
Earlier in 2014, India’s largest tyre manufacturer, MRF emerged as the first Indian tyre maker to launch tyres for the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) Sukhoi aircraft. Christened as AeroMuscle it was used as the main wheel for the Sukhoi 30 MKI jet.
The Delhi-headquartered tyre manufacturer is preparing the framework to get into the civil aviation segment. Although, at present, the company is not ready to disclose anything on this matter as things are still in the primitive stage. Due to immense growth potential in the segment, the firm is taking a lot of interest in it.
At present, there are four major manufacturers of aircraft tyres worldwide namely Goodyear (USA), Michelin (France), Dunlop (UK) and Bridgestone (Japan). These globally acclaimed tyre makers conquer nearly 85 percent of the manufacturing market.
JK Tyre, a part of J. K. Organisation group of Companies, is one of the leading Truck and Bus Radial (TBR) tyre manufacturers in the country and is the only tyre maker that offers radials for Trucks, Buses and Cars. The company has a global customer base spread across 6 continents in over 80 countries. In 2008, the Indian tyre major acquired Mexican tyre firm, Tornel.
