Country’s leading tyre maker, Ceat Limited, has recently announced the commissioning of their Greenfield tyre manufacturing plant in Nagpur, Maharashtra. Located at Buti Bori area of the third largest city of the state, the unit is built with a capacity to churn out 15 metric tonne (MT) per day in the initial phase. Moreover, by the end of the financial year 2017-18, the plant will be fully operational, and therefore it is likely to produce 1.2 million tyres per day that boils down to 120 MT per day.
In December 2014, the flagship company of RPG Enterprises, Ceat Tyres Ltd., had announced the Buti Bori tyre plant with an investment of Rs 400 crore in the first phase. The cornerstone for the new plant was laid by the Mr. Devendra Fadnavis, the honourable Chief Minister of Maharashtra. The newly commissioned manufacturing plant will be responsible for producing two wheeler and three wheeler tyres. Competing with the well-known players like MRF and TVS in the domestic segment, the Mumbai based tyre firm is presently the leading tyre manufacturer with competency to roll-out 95000 tyres per day.
Besides, 2-wheeler and 3-wheeler tyres, the company also deals in the making of radial tyres for varied vehicle range that includes car/SUV tyres, light pickup truck tyres, medium and heavy truck tyres etc. The company owns 6 manufacturing units across India and 10 outsourcing plants for tyres, tubes and flaps, while there are 3 dedicated 2-wheeler and 3-wheeler plants directly controlled by Ceat Tyres India.
