Renowned French tyre major, Michelin has introduced Michelin Pilot Sport tyre recently at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. The new tyre will feature in the ABB FIA Formula E Championship. The Season 5 (2018/2019) of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship will commence in December this year.  The innovative tyre Michelin Pilot Sport, which is an integral part of the ambitious development program, is light in weight and is more energy-efficient than ever.

Michelin Pilot Sport Is Lighter

The newly designed front tyre of the Michelin Pilot Sport now weighs about 2 kg less; moreover, the rear tyre is even lighter by 2.5 kg than prior. This calculates up to a reduction of approximately 9 kg for per set of four tyres, which is almost 20 percent less of the overall weight of the predecessor tyre.

Michelin Pilot Sport Is More Efficient

Keeping in mind the fact that tyres have a direct effect on the travelling distance of any vehicle, the France based tyre manufacturer has made extensive efforts on the construction and rolling resistance aspect of the latest-generation Michelin Pilot Sport tyres. And this has resulted in increased energy efficiency. Therefore, the new set of tyres will extend the range of the Formula E single seaters, with no compromise on performance or driver safety.

Michelin Pilot Sport Looks More Similar To Conventional Tyres

A lot of effort has gone into the making of Michelin Pilot Sport, be it its design or compound amalgamation.  With patterned groove tread and 18-inch interior diameter, the Pilot Sport resembles a road tyre. And can only be identified as race tyre via its visible graphic design inscribed on its sidewalls.

Also known as Formula E, the ABB FIA Formula E Championship, is a class of auto racing that involves the use of only electric-powered cars. Started in the year 2012, the first e-racing championship event was held in Beijing on 13 September 2014.
