Maruti Suzuki Desert Storm Rally – Jathin & Arjun to Represent Tyremarket

Tomorrow January 29, will mark the first day of one of India’s most loved and followed rally. Also, seen as Indian version of “Dakar Rally”. Yes, we are talking about the well-known “Desert Storm Rally”. The 15th edition of the Maruti Suzuki Desert Storm will see more than 200 participants trying to test their machines as well as skills in the vastness of Thar. The climate and track are not going to be hospitable, but the winner will have to overcome all these obstacles to become the champion for the year 2017.

The week-long event will see the participants enduring over 2,000 Kms from New Delhi covering Hanumangarh, Bikaner and Jaisalmer. Before concluding the final leg of the rally at Jodhpur on February 4. Maruti Suzuki Desert Storm has gained a unique attraction due to the difficulties that it throws to the participants as well as the charm of day as well as night driving in the sand dunes of Rajasthan. The toughest part of the rally is the night driving part that happens in Jaisalmer where the driver and navigator has to manage 150 kms in night.

Tyremarket.com is also participating in this year’s Maruti Suzuki Desert Storm. They are going to be represented by the duo of Jathin Kumar and Arjun. S. S. B who together have 68 trophies between them. Jathin will be the driver while Arjun will take the responsibility of navigator as per the rally’s rules. Let’s have a look at the career and achievements of these two drivers so far.

Jathin Akash Kumar –

Born in 1991, Jathin is an ardent Formula One follower since his childhood. A businessman by profession and a rally driver by passion. His father took him to his first dirt bike event in the year 2002 in Bangalore, and that’s where the passion to ride began. Jathin’s first success came in the year 2009, when he debuted at KMSC rally 2009. And, from there on the journey continued that has brought him 32 trophies so far in just over 7 years.

Arjun. S. S. B –

Arjun has a total of 36 trophies in his cabinet. He is a Mechanical Engineer by profession having completed his graduation last year. Like Jathin, he too started his rallying in the year 2009 when he got his first ever bike. And, his journey started having a bike of his own prompted his desire to rally and take part in motorsport events across the country. Arjun’s first big event was the Maruti Suzuki Dakshin Dare 2012, where he got 4th position in his category and 8th overall. Arjun has experience in the role of navigator that he has ably performed in many rallies.
