Kolkata-based KSL Cleantech, formerly known as Kirti Solar Limited, is revving up its electric vehicles (EVs) business in India. Recent developments in the company suggest that they will now be focusing solely upon electric two and three-wheelers. These will include passenger as well as small commercial vehicles. In the next three years, the company is also mulling to invest about INR 200 crore on the development of electric two and three-wheelers. All these models will be manufactured in India. And in the coming 12 months or so, we will see about 10 new variants of e-vehicles being introduced by KSL Cleantech.
According to Dhiraj Bhagchanda, Managing Director, KSL Cleantech Ltd., the Central Government’s initiative towards the use of alternative energy resources over fossil fuel, the land transport system is expected to witness a major transformation. A majority of the transport system will switch to electrification as the government intends to tackle rising pollution in the country. In order to play its part in this, KSL wants to bring more EVs to its portfolio. This will give them an opportunity to outgrow in a market looking for high quality, performance-based EVs that can outperform the normal vehicles.

KSL Cleantech Ltd. is currently working on various prototypes of mini passenger vehicles and is in constant negotiations with various leading global technology partners in the EV space. Sources say that the company will soon make some strategic announcements regarding their future business partnerships. Meanwhile, the company has a few models of electric three-wheelers, currently being sold in India through an extensive network of dealers.
