As per the recent test that has been carried out independently by the independent testing company DEKRA (Deutscher Kraftfahrzeug-Überwachungs-Verein) at the request of Goodyear Dunlop, the result suggests that the Goodyear EfficientGrip Cargo light commercial vehicle tyre can achieve an average of additional mileage with a run of 13,344 miles / 21,475 kilometres.
This evaluation test was performed at the Mireval Proving Ground situated in France between July and October, 2016. In the test Renault’s Master Light Commercial Vehicle was used and the tyres in competition that were pitted against each other were EfficientGrip Cargo vs. Hankook Vantra LT vs. Continental ContiVanContact 200. As per the DEKRA testers results the Goodyear tyre achieved 14,890 miles extra mileage which is an amount equal to 40 percent better wear performance than the ContiVan Contact200 and 32 percent better wear performance than Hankook Vantra LT.
Goodyear engineers have put a special effort while developing the EfficientGrip Cargo and made technical improvements to previous tyre compounds so as to increase wear resistance on abrasive surfaces. Goodyear Dunlop also enhanced tyre construction with a higher volume of rubber to optimise solid rib stiffness that in turn will contribute to increased tyre life and also provides improvements in handling.
As commented by Martijn de Jonge, Brand Director Consumer PBU EMEA at Goodyear that delivering such good results in DEKRA tests have proven the dedication of Goodyear’s engineers and as a result of their commitment they are able to create ‘Extra Mile Technology’, not only for improving the tyres’ mileage but also for enhanced performance on wet roads, durability and total cost of ownership.
