The biggest automobile extravaganza in India, Auto Expo 2018 witnessed many launches and unveils of several new two-wheelers at the event. The auto exhibition not only consisted of some fascinating concepts but also featured fresh production ready two-wheelers comprising of motorcycles and scooters. Emflux One
Budding Bengaluru based startup, Emflux Motors, unveiled its full-fledged new electric bike called the Emflux One. Tagged at Rs 6 lakh for the base model, India’s first electric bike goes up to Rs 11 lakh for the top end model in India.Emflux One can attain a top speed of 200 kmph alongside can reach 100 kmph in surprisingly 3 seconds. The powerful electric motorcycle draws power from liquid-cooled AC induction motor that outpours maximum power of 60 Kw and 84 Nm of peak torque. With specially designed Emflux WARP Charger, the sports bike gets charged up to 80% in merely 36 minutes, while the regular 15 A charger takes 3 hours to do the same. Emflux One features 7-inch TFT touch display, GPS navigation, real-time vehicle diagnostics, auto updates etc.
Honda X-Blade
The awaited all-new X-Blade was a significant product unwrapped by the Japanese two-wheeler giant at the 2018 Auto Expo. Scheduled for a March 2018 launch in the country, its price tag will fall between Rs 80,000-85,000 (ex-showroom). The sporty and aggressive looking bike is designed keeping India’s young blood and millennials in mind. Honda X-Blade features sharper panels as opposed to Honda CB Hornet 160, edgy headlight called ‘Robo-face’ by the company, and an all-LED headlight, which is a segment first. Just like CB Hornet, X-Blade too draws power from the same 162.7cc air-cooled motor that is slightly detuned to make a peppy 13.9 hp at 8,500 rpm and 13.9 Nm at 6,000 rpm. Honda X-Blade is mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0
The version 3.0 of the most anticipated faired sports bike Yamaha YZF R15 is now adorned with original R1 fairing, twin-LED headlights and LED tail lamp unit. Yamaha YZF R15 V3.0 is priced at Rs 1.25 lakh and is powered by a155cc, SOHC, 4-valve, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine that gives out 19.3 hp at 10,000 rpm alongside is coupled to a 6-speed gearbox. This is the same unit that also features in the lately unveiled Hero Xtreme 200 R. For optimum control there will be disc brakes at both ends along with switchable ABS mechanism. A full LED headlamp setup, all-digital instrument console with smartphone connectivity, luggage rack, knuckle guards, and dual disc brakes are the high points of this adventure tourer.
BMW G 310 R & G 310 GS
BMW Motorrad showcased BMW G 310 R and BMW G 310 GS at the 2018 Auto Expo. Both the versions of the awaited bikes will see a launch in the second half this year. Powered by the 313cc, single-cylinder engine with twin-overhead camshafts, G 310 R produces 33.6 hp and 28 Nm. Nevertheless, it also features many common attributes of TVS Apache RR 310. Whilst, the G 310 GS gets a 313cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder 4V engine that hands out 34 hp and 28 Nm and will be mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The G 310 GS is estimated to be priced between Rs 2.6-2.8 lakh (ex-showroom) range.
TVS Ntorq
With the TVS NTorq sporty scooter, TVS Motors makes its debut in the 125cc segment. Just a day before the Auto Expo 2018 the scooter was launched at Rs 58,750 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Based on the Graphite concept, the Ntorq 125 is aimed to lure young buyers in the country. TVS NTorq is powered by a 125cc CVTi Revv, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine producing a good 9.27 bhp and 10.4 Nm. The powerful premium scooter that features convenience, comfort, ease and safety at its best gets elements in the form of external fuel filler cap, engine kill switch, parking brakes, pass by switch, dual-side handle lock, USB mobile phone charger and large 22 L under-the-seat storage space.
Suzuki Burgman
Suzuki Motorcycles’ one of the most admired scooter the Burgman Street, made its India debut in a 125cc avatar. Suzuki Burgman Street is known for its unique styling upfront and is adorned with large apron and windscreen, wide and comfortable rider and pillion seats along with an innovative exhaust design. Burgman Street is packed with tried and tested 124.3cc motor (as seen on Suzuki Access 125) that gives out 8.6 hp at 6,500 rpm and 10.2 Nm at 5,000 rpm. Hero Duet 125 & Hero Maestro Edge 125
Keeping the design element familiar, Hero MotoCorp unveiled the higher capacity versions of the regular Hero Duet and Hero Maestro Edge. The innovative aspect comprise of digital display with the analog instrument console and idle-start-stop-system (i3S system) for the first time in scooter segment. Besides the cosmetic upgrades, both Hero Maestro Edge 125 and Hero Duet 125 utilize the same 125cc single-energy cylinder boost motor tuned to produce 8.7 bhp and 10.2 Nm of power and torque respectively. Other worth mentioning attributes include a side stand indicator, service reminder, pass switch, external fuel filling and others. Moreover, front disc brake and Integrated Braking System (IBS) are offered as an option.
Twenty Two Flow
Upcoming electric two-wheelers start up in the country, Twenty Two Motors, launched its inaugural electric scooter concept called – the Flow. The Flow electric scooter was launched at Rs. 70,400 (ex-showroom). The ‘smart’ scooter features round-the-clock connectivity to Twenty Two’s cloud-based system via. smartphone. Flow gets round headlamp with an LED ring, a sharp front apron and clean, crisp angular design. The tech specs include 2.8 PS (2100 watts) DC motor and a powerful lithium-ion battery. The e-scooter can attain a top speed of 60 kmph and cover maximum travel range of 160 km in a single charge. Some fascinating features include cruise control, reverse gear, LCD display, a Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS), programmable LED lights and many others.
Aprilia SR 125
Italian motor vehicle manufacturer, Piaggio & C. SpA launched its awaited performance scooter the Aprilia SR 125 at Rs 63,310 (ex-showroom, Pune). The detuned version of big brother Aprilia SR 150, SR 125 gets the same 125cc motor as seen in the Piaggio Vespa 125, which delivers around 10 bhp of max power and 10.6 Nm of peak torque. In terms of looks, the 125cc model appears quite identical to the elder sibling however it gets 14-inch wheels and new exterior colour theme. The Aprilia SR 125 gets sporty seats with a black and red scheme, new grab rail design double-barrel headlights, indicators on the handlebar, and the SR-specific body decals etc.
