Bridgestone Ranks #1 Again For The 5th Consecutive Year

Spending millions of dollars and men devoting their time dedicatedly in making, promoting, distributing and selling their products, the world’s top tire making company found itself in the same spot as they were before a year ago, being Ranked 1st again. Their global sales of tire-related components were $28.6 billion which is way ahead of Michelin by more than $2 billion, according to Rubber & plastics News.

Tire Business ranks tire makers on the revenue they garnered from the sales of the tires they have manufactured, excluding sales of non-tire products. The position of Bridgestone at the top is further cemented by the ownership it holds in two other companies named as- BRISA/Bridgestone Sabanci Tire Mfg. (in which Bridgestone holds 43% ownership) and Nokian Tyres P.L.C. (in which it holds 15% stake).

Some other points about Bridgestone’s success:

• Bridgestone recently announced that it will soon introduce the Next Generation of its OTR Tire and Rim management Software, TreadStat during MINExpo in Las Vegas.

• Bridgestone showcased its new innovative technology tires with 3 of them making a debut which includes DriveGuard: the tire that keeps you going, whatever the puncture; Bridgestone Dueler A/T 001: the all new tough terrain all-season tire; Control Area Information Sensing (CAIS) technology that is fitted to Blizzak LM001 winter tire. Added to this, Bridgestone was recently appointed exclusive tire supplier for the Aston Martin DB11.

• Bridgestone also recently launched America’s legendary tire brand Firestone with the Firestone FR500 for cars and Firestone Destination LE02 for SUVs, in India. Moreover, the company has completed the construction of its first plant in the Russia/CIS region.

• Bridgestone Potenza S001 will be fitted in Alfa Romeo Giulia with an added reassurance of Run-Flat Technology (RFT). They have also pioneered the development of RFT Tires, offering drivers safety after a puncture which will never leave them stranded.

• In other activities the company was also the official Worldwide Rio Olympics 2016 Partner and as per agreement with the IOC, it will be partnering with them till the 2024 Olympic Games to be held in Tokyo.

Seeing all these achievements one can only guess that much better days are ahead for the company.

My need for speed began at a very early age and I realised this as soon as I got my first bicycle at the age of 8. When all the other kids would break downhill I would pedal harder just to go faster and enjoy the thrill. Adding to my interest for speed, I grew engrossed in the working mechanics of two wheelers thanks to my father as he is a hydraulic mechanic and would take me along with him on his repair sessions. Eventually I became familiar with the tools and basic technical concepts of two wheelers.Super sport and sport tourers are more of my liking and the sparks to these flames were ignited the first time I experienced the maddening power of a Yamaha YZF R1. I was just 14 years old at the time and got to ride as a pillion with an older acquaintance. This one short ride influenced my every decision in terms of the bikes I want to own. As of today I’m 26 years old and a proud owner of a Yamaha Fz15 version 2.0 and a Kawasaki Ninja 650 2014 model having clocked a decent 30k Kms only while touring, waiting to clock 1000s more as riding makes me feel whole again after enduring the dismal routines of life.
