JK Tyre Chairman Receives The Highest Civilian Honour of Mexico
Melba Pria, the Ambassador of Mexico to India, on the eve of 128th National Day of Mexico and on the behalf of the President of Mexico has conferred Dr. Raghupati Singhania, Chairman & Managing Director of JK Tyre & Industries Ltd. with the highest civilian honour ‘Mexican Order of the Aztec Eagle’. This honour is given to non-nationals by the Government of Mexico. This top honour to Dr. Raghupati Singhania is in recognition of his noteworthy services and exemplary leadership towards humanity and his efforts to cement bilateral ties between Mexico and India.
Dr. Raghupati Singhania, while receiving the award said that he is honoured with the recognition that Mexican government has conferred on him. It has been a privilege for him to have played a role in creating interest among Indian businesses in investing in Mexico. The Government of Mexico has given a boost to the business by welcoming foreign investment with open arms which is a reflection of the government’s helpful attitude towards the industry which other countries should look for.
In 2006, JK Tyres and Industries expanded its manufacturing operations by acquiring Tornel’s three production facilities in Hidalgo, Azcapotzalco and Tultitlan. The company soon turned around in its very first year by improving efficiencies and increasing market shares across product segment under the able leadership of Dr. Raghupati Singhania. Since then, the Tornel production capacity has expanded which covers North American and Latin American markets. The company recently implemented the first ever labour restructuring programme at JK Tornel in Mexico by right-sizing the workforce which was made possible due to the tremendous help received by the Labour Ministry of the Government of Mexico.
