New Lexus UX Concept Car Comes Fitted With Goodyear’s Customized Concept Tyres

RunOnFlat Technology

At the 2016 Paris Motor Show, Lexus has unveiled its UX concept car, which is equipped with custom-made Goodyear Urban Crossover concept tyres. The mesmerising crossover vehicle that takes Japan-based company’s design philosophy to next level matches the equally fascinating set of tyres that carry latest examples of modern technology and innovative design. For this particular model, the UX, Lexus embraces inside-out mantra, which makes interior and exterior design elements complement each other to perfection. And to match this attribute, a similar principle was followed by Goodyear with rim-spokes smoothly flowing into the sidewall design of the tyres making the overall design of the car look inimitable. The state-of-the-art concept tyres feature Goodyear’s Sound Comfort Technology and RunOnFlat Technology.

The Ohio-headquartered tyre major, Goodyear’s Sound Comfort Technology employs an open-cell polyurethane foam element attached to the inner surface of the tyre. With the help of this technology tire cavity noise is reduced, which is generated due to rolling of tyre on a surface resulting in quiet cabin allowing drivers and passengers enjoy music or conversation uninterruptedly in their Lexus.

For these concept tyres, Goodyear has amalgamated its Sound Comfort Technology with the chip-in-tire technology that was for the first time displayed at 2014 Geneva Motor Show. Here, the configured chip transmits vital information to the car’s on-board computer, which causes enhanced stability and performance while cornering and braking. In addition, this system also sends vital information related to tyre pressure and temperature to the vehicle’s on-board computer. After receiving the information it automatically enhances car’s longitudinal and lateral control algorithms, which results in the delivery of superior driving performance.

The new concept tyres for the Lexus UX are outfitted with Goodyear’s RunOnFlat Technology, which works wonders after a puncture and is capable of carrying the weight of the car up to 80 kilometres with no air pressure inside the tyre. This is made possible due to the reinforced and rock-hard sidewalls that are assimilated into these tyres.
