Auto Expo Components 2018 Day 1 Highlights!
The much-awaited Auto Expo 2018 – Components kicked off today at Delhi’s Pragati Maidan. The first day saw ministers and many other high profile personalities speaking at the inaugural ceremony.
The main attractions of the first day were:
- The ACMA Safer Drives Pavilion showed futuristic virtual reality gaming and mind wave gaming.
- The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) organised the UK pavilion.
- Ray Mallock Ltd., also known as RML Group exhibited and promoted about ‘paving the way for world-class innovation’.
Earlier in the day, the Honourable Minister of Commerce & Industry of India, Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu emphasised on the fact that the central government of India is working on a plan to make the Automotive Industry a 20% contributor of India’s overall GDP in future; and that exports to the global market should be the key focus area for the Auto Components Industry. He also urged the Auto Industry to integrate higher standards of corporate governance. As we are moving towards mobility, an equal importance needs to be given to nobility, said the minister. He also told the audience that government is planning to develop Andhra Pradesh as a great auto manufacturing zone. It intends to develop east coast and west coast to promote manufacturing as well as export trade facilitation.
Also present on the occasion was Anant Geete, the Union Cabinet Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Sector Enterprises. He said that the component industry has played a major part in the Make in India initiative. It not only leads the other industries in terms of size but also creates numerous jobs. GOI will fully support the component industry to make eco-friendly E-vehicles.
Vinnie Mehta, DG, ACMA, said that AutoExpo 2018 is just like the Mahakumbh for the Auto sector and we have put the grand show on the two sides of Yamuna this year. Appreciating the increase in customs duty, Nirmal Minda, President, ACMA was of the view that this year’s Union Budget has given a significant thrust to strengthen the component manufacturing base. This will help the Make in India initiative and in getting more investments to deepen technological base.
Emphasising on the importance of this biennial mega event, Abhay Firodia, President, SIAM expressed his views. He told the audience that the Component Show is a mega B2B show where component manufacturers, who are strong in technology and manufacturing, can interact with their potential customers to showcase their future-ready abilities. He also mentioned that there has been an evolution in past 70 years, from adapting imported components to manufacturing future ready components. Now the whole DNA of the industry will change, to embrace EVs.
The first day of the Auto Component Show 2018 concluded with an exhaustive display of technologies which will pave way for the future.
