Auto Expo 2018 starts today! The Motor Show will be held at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida, while the Components Expo will be held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

The Auto Expo 2018 will see over 1,200 participants from 20 countries in a six-day event. This year’s Auto Expo is organised by CII (Confederation of Indian Industry), SIAM (Society of Indian Automobiles Manufacturers) and ACMA (Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India). Like the previous edition, Auto Expo 2018 will be conducted in two venues.

  • Auto Expo 2018 – Components at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, India from 8th February to 11th February
  • Auto Expo 2018 – Vehicles at Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India from 9th February to 14th February

People will see the entire display of automotive components, technology and services during Auto Expo 2018. This year’s ticketing responsibilities will be handled by Bookmyshow. You can buy tickets either under Business or General category. 7th and 8th February are reserved for media days. The focus is going to be on electric vehicles. The key attractions will include autonomous vehicle display, motorsports and auto gaming arena. The Auto Expo 2018 – Vehicles will see 12 startups taking part in the event, with the majority coming from electric vehicle background. The 7-day event will see the unveiling of over 100 vehicles and launch of 24 new vehicles.

Some of the most awaited showcases at Auto Expo 2018 are:

1) Six new EVs (Electric vehicles) from Mahindra Electric Mobility Limited, a subsidiary of Mahindra & Mahindra. The company has issued a statement saying that the showcased products will include both concept models as production ones.

2) Honda Motorcycle & Scooter (HMSI) is all set to create history at Auto Expo 2018 by showcasing 11 models (highest in any edition of Auto Expo). It will include a racing bike and a concept scooter from its electric mobility platform.

3) UM Motorcycles will unveil the world’s first electric high-speed cruiser bike. The motorcycle is called “UM Renegade Thor” and there are clear indications that it will be powered by batteries. It will be formally launched in India later this year. In addition to this, UM will also showcase two more bikes at the 2018 Auto Expo.

4) The South Korean auto major, Hyundai will showcase 15 products at this year’s event. These will include Kona compact sports utility vehicle, high-performance sub-brand N and vehicles from Ioniq range. According to the company’s MD and CEO, Y K Koo, this year Hyundai Motor India Limited’s theme for Auto Expo 2018 is “Experience Hyundai”.

5) The indigenous auto major, Tata Motors will showcase an extended range of six electric vehicles catering to mass and personal mobility. Additionally, the company has announced that it will introduce 26 smart mobility solutions across its commercial and passenger vehicles at the Auto Expo 2018. Tata has recently bagged an order of 350 electric cars from government-owned Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL).

In other major events, KIA Motors will showcase a new concept SUV at the Auto Expo 2018. Besides the concept SUV, the second largest Korean car-maker will also showcase 16 of its global car models. Among these, some will be sold in India by 2019. While DC Design has confirmed that it will showcase its all-new coupe called TCA. DC TCA stands for Titanium, Carbon Fibre and Aluminium, this car will be a bit costlier than DC Avanti with a price of around INR 45 lakhs.

Moreover, seven of the top 15 carmakers will miss this year’s Auto Expo as many notable brands have decided not to showcase their products in India’s mega automotive product showcasing event. These include Fiat, MG, Triumph, Harley Davidson, Volkswagen Group and Royal Enfield.
