The leading Indian tyre manufacturer, Apollo Tyres has signed cricketing legend great Sachin Tendulkar as its brand ambassador model. Appointed for a period of five years, Mr. Tendulkar was earlier associated with MRF Tyres for more than two decades. MRF is currently endorsed by Virat Kohli, the Indian cricket team captain. With Mr. Tendulkar on their side, Apollo now intends to convey the message of making every journey ‘a safe and inspiring one’.
Since inception, this is the first instance when the Gurugram headquartered tyre maker has roped in a celebrity to endorse its products. The world’s 11th biggest tyre manufacturer hopes that this alliance will widen its reach and help in the successful penetration of Apollo tyre brand across the globe. What’s more, the 46-year-old tyre company also holds the sponsorship for the top English Premier League brand Manchester United.
Sharing his thoughts on this remarkable occasion, Apollo Tyres – Vice Chairman and MD, Mr. Neeraj Kanwar said, “Building the Apollo brand to its true potential is a key to our growth. By securing Sachin Tendulkar’s association with our brand, we have embarked on an exciting journey together. I am sure this partnership will help us go the distance!”
Despite bidding adieu to cricket some five years ago, the God of cricket Sachin Tendulkar still remains as one of the most influential sporting personalities worldwide. Moreover, being a car enthusiast himself this union is set to go distance due to its close relevance. Mr Tendulkar is currently the brand ambassador for the German car maker, BMW in the country.
To spread its footprint across India and around the globe, besides supporting Manchester United Apollo Tyres also sponsors a number of activities. This includes its association with German Bundesliga, a professional association football league in Germany and Borussia Monchengladbach, again a football club in Mönchengladbach, Germany. Moreover, its domestic sponsorship appearance comprises of the principal sponsor of Chennaiyin FC Team (Indian Super League (ISL)), and in the I-League, with its title sponsorship of Minerva Punjab FC.
Furthermore, in a recent development, Mr. Onkar S Kanwar, Chairman and MD, Apollo Tyres, was conferred with the ‘Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star’ award by the Government of Japan. The recognition made at the 2018 Autumn Imperial Decorations, was honoured by the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in the presence of Emperor Akihito. The award was presented to him for his significant contributions in the direction of fortifying the economic ties between India and Japan alongside encouraging the entry of Japanese firms in the Indian market.
