Amid fanfare and enthusiasm, the 15th Maruti Suzuki Desert Storm started today around 4 p.m. Mr. Vinay Pant, AVP, Marketing, Maruti Suzuki flagged off the Desert Storm officially in the presence of all the participants, sponsors and media people. The rally started from GIP Mall, Noida and will cover a distance of more than 2,000 kms covering the majestic as well as difficult Thar desert in Rajasthan.
Suresh Rana (winner of many rallies) was the first one to be flagged off, alongside Dakar rally finisher C.S. Santosh who is defending his title in the Moto category. The rally has four categories — Xtreme, Endure, Moto and Xplore. The original schedule of the rally was canceled as it clashed with the cultivation season of Rajasthan and that’s the reason it is being held in late January.
