TVS Reports A Growth Of 4.1% PBT In The Third Quarter Of FY 2016-17

India’s leading two-wheeler manufacturer, TVS Motor Company has recently shared its Q3 report card for the ongoing 2016-17 fiscal. In the third quarter of financial year 2016-17, TVS Motor Company’s PBT (Profit Before Tax) saw an up of 4.1 percent to INR 169.80 Crore compared to INR 163.14 Crores in the same quarter of the last fiscal. Moreover, the PAT (Profit After Tax) also witnessed a jump of 10.4 percent to INR 132.67 Crores in the recently concluded quarter compared to INR 120.21 Crores in the same period last year. Overall revenue of the Chennai-based manufacturer climbed to INR 3239.55 Crores in the quarter that concluded on the 31st December 2016, while in the corresponding period last year it recorded total revenue of INR 3151.12 Crores.

The third quarter of the financial year 2016-17, which ended last month i.e. December 2016, saw the total two-wheeler sales of TVS Motor Company surge by 4 percent including exports, which consist of the sales of 7.03 lakh units compared to the sales of 6.76 lakh units that it recorded in the quarter ended in December 2015. Among the two-wheeler sales, motorcycles recorded the sales of 2.48 lakh units in the Q3 of 2016-17 in comparison to the sales of 2.60 lakh units recorded Q3 of 2015-16. Moreover, scooter sales during the quarter under review are 2.21 lakh units as against the 2.32 lakh units in the third quarter of last fiscal.

In the quarter that ended in December 2016, TVS Motor Company has exported 0.99 lakh units of two and three wheelers in comparison to the 1.08 lakh units in the third quarter of 2015-16. A total of 16081 units of three-wheeler were sold in the Q3 of the 2016-17 fiscal compared to the 26225 units in the Q3 of 2015-16.

 

Awards Conferred

The leading commerce magazine, Business Today honoured Mr. Venu Srinivasan, Chairman and Managing Director of the TVS Motor Company with the 2016 Champion of Champions award and Best CEO award.

At the Autocar India Awards 2017, the latest entrant in the 200cc segment, TVS Apache RTR 200 4V walked away with as many as three awards which includes the prestigious Indian Motorcycle of the Year (IMOTY) 2017 award alongside the ‘Bike of the Year’ and ‘Viewer’s Choice Bike of the Year’ award.

Besides this, the Apache RTR 200 4V was also named as the ‘Motorcycle of the Year’ and ‘Motorcycle of the Year (Viewer’s Choice) at the 2017 CNBC Overdrive Awards, while at the Auto X it was awarded as the ‘Best of 2016’.

The TVS Motor Company was on cloud nine at the NDTV Car and Bike awards 2017 as it was conferred with three most coveted awards: 1) TVS Apache RTR 200 4V getting the Motorcycle of the Year award in the up to 250cc category, (2) Commuter bike TVS Victor adjudged as the ‘Motorcycle of the Year’ in the up to 110 cc category and (3) TVS Scooty Zest 110 being awarded with the Best Innovation in Communication for its Himalayan Highs campaign.

In addition to awards in the product category, the TVS Motor Company, as a whole has also been bestowed with the Corporate Citizen of the Year award at The Economic Times Awards for Corporate Excellence.
