Auto Expo 2018 ended on a high note leaving behind so many thrilling moments to cherish. The world’s second-largest automotive show witnessed numerous breathtaking launches and grand unveilings of several eagerly anticipated cars from nearly every segment. In addition to the key launches of all-new Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai Elite i20 hatchbacks, there were some other cars too that left the visitors astonished. Targeted towards young SUV fanatics, the South Korean carmaker’s initial KIA model for India is expected to see a mid-2019 launch next year. The stunning compact SUV received an overwhelming response from the masses at the 2018 Auto Expo. The futuristically designed mini SUV is adorned with bold styling, KIA’s unique design DNA, a rare mix of wide and stable position together with sporty and long hood profile that will lay down new standards in the compact SUV segment in India.

With Tata Motors’ incredibly well-designed 45X concept hatch, the homegrown carmaker marks a giant leap in the designing cordon. Displayed uniquely in a glass showcase, the suave appearing 45X hatch provides a convincing posture upfront and is drenched under Impact Design 2.0 language all over. Based on Tata Motors’ novel Advanced Modular Platform (AMP), Tata 45X is said to share the engine from sibling Tata Tiago / Tata Tigor or even Tata Nexon. The petrol and diesel powertrains are expected to get variable geometry turbochargers along with higher power and torque outputs. Just like the eye-catching exteriors, interiors will also come loaded with a plethora of features as witnessed on most new Tata cars.

The most anticipated and gorgeous looking C-segment sedan from the Japanese automaker, Toyota Yaris made a scintillating debut at the 14th Auto Expo. The promising sedan is expected to hit Toyota showrooms in or around May 2018. At the time of launch, the mid-size sedan will be offered with a solo 1.5 L petrol engine with an optional CVT. Toyota Yaris will arrive in two variants namely V and VX. Yaris receives halogen projector headlamps with LED light guides as a standard feature, whereas the top-end trim VX even gets daytime running LEDs. Special attention has been given to safety aspects; some high points of the safety-list include front and rear parking sensors, 7 airbags as standard, all-four disc brakes etc.

The next best thing that Tata Motors unveiled at the 2018 Auto Expo after the marvellous 45X hatch is none other than Tata H5X SUV. The H5X is based on an all-new platform called the OMEGA, which stands for ‘Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced’. OMEGA platform is actually Land Rover’s D8 architecture that is tailored to suit Indian conditions. Under the hood, Tata H5X will see a 2.0 L diesel burner borrowed from the Jeep Compass. Set for a 2019 launch in India the swashbuckling SUV is estimated to fall under Rs 10 lakh onwards price tag.

BMW 6 Series

Bavarian carmaker’s latest sensation is BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo, or the GT. Launched at the Auto Expo 2018 the luxurious lift-back carries a hefty price tag of Rs 58.9 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the 630i petrol model. The new BMW 6 GT is powered by a 2.0 L, 258 hp, turbocharged, 4-cylinder powertrain and is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission gearbox. This is the same engine that performs its duties on the BMW 5 Series. The high tech feature list comprises of touch-n-gesture operated 6th-generation iDrive infotainment system, 4-zone automatic climate control, head-up display, LED mood lighting and a Bowers & Wilkins Diamond surround sound setup with a 10-channel amplifier connected to 16 partially illuminated speakers.

The new-generation Honda Amaze at the Auto Expo 2018 literally amazed one and all with its stupendous design and detailing inside out. The City look-alike sub-four-metre sedan will hit the Honda showrooms nationwide in the coming fiscal year. Second gen Honda Amaze gets an all-new hi-tech platform alongside the conventional fuel choices of petrol and diesel engines, in the form of 1.2 L (87 bhp & 109 Nm) and the 1.5 L (98 bhp & 200 Nm) respectively.  Besides the regular 5-speed manual gearbox, the new Amaze will also be offered with a convenient choice of CVT automatic transmission in petrol as well as diesel trims.
