Cleaning Brake Dust

Clean that brake dust regularly. Because if you leave the dust for too long then the combination of road grime, moisture and heat from your brakes will make it onto the wheels. The best and efficient way to clean this dust is to take a damp sponge and clean cold water to get rid of it.

Tyre Check

Check tyre pressure routinely.  Tyre with low pressure will affect fuel consumption as well as handling and comfort. Also make sure that you check the tyre depth once in a while. Bald and slick tyres are good for car racing but not for driving on the roads. Most tyres come with tread wear bars built into them and by looking on it, you can examine if your tread is too low.

Keeping Track of Engine Oil 

Checking your car’s engine oil level is a quick and easy thing. If the oil is too low or too high, it can cause trouble for the engine. To check the level, first park car on a level ground and then locate the dipstick. Pull it out and wipe it clean and then push it back and then pull it out after some time. Check the level of oil and act accordingly.

Changing Air Filter 

It also depends on what driving conditions your car is going through. Change the air filter as per requirement and never overlook it. Air filter acts as a defence mechanism for your engine and increases its life.

Checking Coolant Level

The coolant is also important for a vehicle without which an engine cannot go. Look for the ‘high’ and ‘low’ signs on the transparent bottle of the coolant. Ideally, the level of coolant inside should be between the two.

Precaution for Battery

If you are going to do any work involving the electrical system of the car, then it is advised to disconnect the battery first. Most of us forget to do this but doing this will help prevent damage to your car’s battery.

Keep Wipers in Working Condition

Windshield wipers need regular inspection because their rubber deteriorates with time. Once the deterioration begins, wiper blades lose the ability to flex and flip. Wipers can then chatter against the glass and in most cases, the result is significantly reduced windshield effectivity.

Taking Care of Brake Pads

Driving on difficult terrains and stop and go driving and other inappropriate driving ways can severely result in brake pad wearing out quickly than normally expected. Most modern cars and brake pads are equipped with audible wear sensors. Once worn out, the pads will emit healthy squeals which will go on continuously to tell you that it’s time to replace the brake pads.

For a common man, it’s difficult to understand the value of having the right octane fuel in the tank. But using the right octane fuel makes sure that your mileage is not compromised. Higher than required octane doesn’t improve mileage as people commonly believe. It only costs you more money. The best way is to see your user manual and go for the recommended octane number.
