Maruti Suzuki Ritz Bids Farewell To The Automotive Industry

maruti ritz

It has been learned that the Maruti Suzuki Ritz’s production has stopped since October – 2016 making way for the new car named “Maruti Suzuki Ignis”. Ignis is more in tune with the time and has already made an impression during Auto Expo – 2016. Ritz was launched in 2009 and since then the car has achieved satisfactory sales for the company, but it never quite achieved the kind of success that its competitors got. The car’s only facelift came in 2012 and that too had few cosmetic changes.

The decisive blow came to the car when it reportedly sold only 5 units last month as opposed to its average sale of around 3000 units a month. Further, it is worthy to notice that Maruti Suzuki has planned to remove by 2020 all its “slow-selling” models. Ignis, a compact crossover was supposed to be launch by this year itself, but due to manufacturing hurdles is now set to be launched in the first quarter of 2017. It will be sold through Maruti’s “NEXA” network.

About Maruti Suzuki Ritz –

It is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.3-litre diesel engine. It has manual as well as an automatic version. The petrol variant offers a fuel-efficiency of around 17-19 kmpl, while diesel variant can give upto 23 kmpl.
