All the good people are busy. But your heart and soul seek liberation. You have been trying to suppress your adventurous soul which wishes for a trip of a 1000 km for a long time. You, however, can’t hold it anymore. You do the formalities at your workplace and pack your bags.

So, you are ready for the trip for which you were yearning for so long. But before you step on the peddle you must prepare your vehicle too. What if your ride gets broken down at an isolated place? This would be a situation when both you and your car would be in jeopardy. Don’t worry, here are our suggestions on how to prepare your vehicle for a 1000 km road trip.

•    You don’t want any harm to the engine of your vehicle. Old engine oil would allow more friction between the piston and the cylinder and thus your engine might get damaged. Prevent that by changing your engine oil prior to the start of the journey. Similarly, let your engine breath fresh by getting a new air filter for it. Also, change the spark plug, it’s gonna be a long ride, boy!

•    Clean your car before the trip, both the interior and the exterior. Remember that this would be your new home for the next few weeks. So, take care of your car just like you take care of your room. You don’t want it to stink. You can actually carry a small garbage bag that would come into handy especially if you are going to cover vast urban spaces.

•    Take the toolbox along and ensure that it contains all the necessary wrenches, screwdrivers, tyre iron, pump and the jack.

•    Check the tyres including the spare tyre. If you have the slightest of doubt on any of the tyres, change it with a new one.

•    As you have cleaned the car, so it’s time to cover the glasses of the car. You may start with the headlights and shield it with a protective sheet. Depending on your route and destination, you may cover with the windows and the windshield with sun protectors.

•   Pack towels to clean the windshield and the windows. For safety take a small fire extinguisher too.

•    Carry the manual along with you. Also, do take along water containers or bucket so that you can get water for emergency purposes to act as the coolant in your car.

•    Take the spare key and keep it preferably in your wallet or in the pocket. Also carry a chain or a towing rope to cope up with emergency services.

•    Ensure that you do carry all the essential gadgets and appliances like — mobile, car charger, cameras, USB cables, camera chargers etc.

Apart from preparing your car, pack the essentials for yourself too. Take a flashlight, bedding and proper clothing along with you. Have a great trip!
