Bridgestone India is contemplating to reduce 1.5 Lakh tons of CO2 emission over the next 20 years. The world\u2019s biggest tyre manufacturer has currently installed 1 MW of solar capacity in its Pune, Maharashtra plant and is further in the process of adding up another 4 MW of capacity that will commence operations by September later this year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Furthermore, the company\u2019s plant in Indore, Madhya Pradesh has till now 1 MW solar energy capacity which is being added by another 1 MW capacity and is said to be operationalised by the third quarter of 2019. Managing Director, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tyremarket.com\/Bridgestone-Car-Tyres\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bridgestone India<\/a>, Mr. Parag Satpute, has said that the company\u2019s key sustainable goal is the use of clean energy and keeping in tune with this goal, the adoption of solar energy will reduce the dependence on conventional forms of energy, thereby leading to a reduction in carbon footprint as 1 MW of solar capacity saves an estimated 1,000 tons of CO2 emission per year. Going by this estimate, the 7 MW of solar capacity will save an estimated 1,50,000 tons of CO2 emissions in the next 20 years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This long term committed step of the company will help in achieving a 50 percent reduction in CO2 emissions by 2050 and beyond. 1 MW of solar power saves nearly INR 59 million of worth electricity expense in 20 years. Under CSR commitments of Bridgestone Group, the company has set a target of reduction of about 35 percent of CO2 emissions per net sales from operations and products after-use by 2020 (as compared to I was just 14 years old at the time and got to ride as a pillion with an older acquaintance. This one short ride influenced my every decision in terms of the bikes I want to own.
