It is situated at an altitude of 18,406 feet or 5,610 meters.

It is situated in the Chang-Chemno range in Ladakh at an elevation of 18,314 feet or 5,582 meterss. At this place too, you would require a prior permission from the Indian Army, which is comparatively easy to obtain as compared to Mana Pass. The road from here bifurcates through Pobrang leading you to the Pangong Tso Lake which is about 20 kms away.

Situated in the central part of the Tibetan plateau at an altitude of 18,258 feet or 5,565 meters. People (mostly pilgrims) often use this route to western Tibet and Mount Kailash, especially when mud makes southern route difficult to access.

This pass connects Sikkim with Tibet in China. This pass is closely located to the world’s 14th highest lake Tso Lhamo Lake or Cholamu Lake in North Sikkim. This lake is also known as one of the origins of Teesta River. Located at an altitude of 17,999 feet or 5,486 meters, getting here is a bit difficult than it may seem as this pass is located close to the Tibet border, so getting a special permit from Indian Army is a laborious task that you have to go through.

 

Kaksang La

Located in the Changthang region of Ladakh at an elevation of 17,841 feet or 5,438 meters. It comes en route to Mahe to Nama- Chusul- Pangong Tso when going over Hora La pass. On this route, there are two serene lakes Yaye Tso and Mirpal Tso that one must visit. Getting here will need an Inner Line Permit, but having this doesn’t guarantee you an entry as it is up to the Indian Army as they can send you back from the checkpoint if it feels that it is unsafe for a civilian to go ahead.

 

Suge La

Situated about 110 kms from the North-West of Lhasa, Tibet, the road to the top is in decent condition which offers you an amazing view of Chomo Gangtse Mountain. Its elevation is 17815 feet or 5,430 meters. Although there’s one caution before you make it here. There’s shortage of oxygen on the top. The road to get there is in decent condition, although the shortage of oxygen will test your vehicle’s engine combustion mechanism.

 

Chang La

Last but not the least in our list of World’s highest motorable roads, Khardung La is situated at an elevation of approximately 17,582 feet or 5,359 meters in the Ladakh region of India. It is believed by many as the highest mountain motorable pass in the world, but it is not factually speaking. Nonetheless, this place is one of the most visited by adventurers. It is a gateway to the Nubra and Shyok Valley. It comes under world famous Karakoram mountain range and offers clean air and some breathtaking views of valleys. The pass has its strategic importance for both China and India. So it’s a place worth visiting.
