Tyrexpo Asia 2017 Singapore – Day 3 Highlights

The 11th edition of Tyrexpo Asia came to an eventful end on 23rd March, 2017. This year’s Tyrexpo was notable for huge participation. Almost 6,000 industry players participated in Singapore’s three-day event. This was the first in the series of Tyrexpo events that are scheduled to happen over a period of one year. The next stop will be India where Chennai and New Delhi will host Tyrexpo India. This will be followed by Tyrexpo UK and Tyrexpo Africa.

On the Day 3 of the event, Dr Goh Mong Song, Principal, ITE College West, made a stopover at Newera and HLT International’s booths. He also saw ITE students at the ITE Automotive Competition. The competition’s winners were announced and ITE College West student Ryan Tan took the first prize. The other two spots were won by Shyarif and Zhen Yu.

Some prizes were also won by the audience through a lucky draw. Mr Andrew Tan, Project Director, Tyrexpo Asia gave his closing comments for the show and thanked the audience and the participants for making Tyrexpo Asia Singapore a successful event.

Earlier on the day 3, Denis Low, President of MARGMA, spoke about the future of dipped goods industry. During Tyre Talk, Indo Riedeberger of Koelnmesse shared the details on The Tire Cologne show scheduled to take place from 29 May to 1 June. Also, for the first time in Tyrexpo Asia people experienced the buses and commercial vehicles showcased before the end of the day.

At GarageXpo Asia, Mr Ryoji Sakai (Newera Equipment) displayed a fully automated tyre changer to the people. While in World Rubber Summit, David Shaw, from Tire Industry Research, shared that tyre makers are moving the emphasis away from natural rubber (NR), except as a commodity purchase. Michelin’s Thierry Serres, Technical Director of Natural Rubber, shared views about smallholder risk management from consumer’s perspective. And, Lisa Peterskovsky, GIZ Indonesia, talked about the difficulties of rubber farming these days during the Producer Perspective session in World Rubber Summit.
