In a Cricket mad country like India, the best way to promote your brand as well as products is through our cricketers. Since the early 1990s when commercialisation of cricket started many companies have associated themselves with cricket and cricketers for promoting their brand as well as establishing their new products in the Indian market.

The same scenario was seen when TVS Motor Company, the Chennai-based automotive group (3rd largest 2-wheeler maker in India) signed up Sachin Tendulkar as their brand ambassador in early 2002. As a part of their strategy, TVS Motor Company proposed to increase both its R&D as well as ad expenditure and brand expenses which were budgeted for about Rs. 100 crore.

Tendulkar was obliged to endorse all two-wheeler brands of the company and attend key corporate and brand events for the next three years. The contract between TVS and Sachin is believed to be among the last handled by the late Mark Mascarenhas, former chief of WorldTel (A company that has been associated with advertisements handling for the Little Master).

Cricket’s God as he is often called, Sachin Tendulkar was also appointed as the Brand Ambassador for TVS Victor motorbike which had enabled TVS Motor Company to expand its market share significantly at that time it ranked third in the country in terms of sales. In the year 2004, Shoaib Akhtar (Rawalpindi Express) and Aussie paceman Brett Lee (One of the finest fast bowler to grace the game) joined Sachin and recorded the advertisement campaign for TVS Motor Company’s new motorcycle, the Victor GLX 125. This joint advertisement was handled by Saatchi & Saatchi. TVS Motors, which was formerly known as TVS Suzuki Ltd has an array of two wheelers under its fold.

TVS’ tyre company, TVS Tyres has also been participating in some of the most prestigious events. In the year 2015, TVS Tyres became the co-presenter of “Cricket All Stars Series” (A three Match T20 series featuring the retired legendary cricketers from all over the world). It was a concept of Sachin Tendulkar and the spin maestro Shane Warne. TVS Tyres’ vision was to promote the brand at the international level and with the success of this cricketing event in the USA they have achieved their goal.

TVS Srichakra Ltd (TVS Tyres) is one of the leading tyre manufacturers in India. Their products are purchased by big automobile brands such as Bajaj Auto, Hero MotoCorp Limited, India Yamaha Motor etc.
