5 Tyre Tips That Might Save Your Life

High-Price vs Low-Price Tyres - What Should You Choose?

Tyres are the most important component of the vehicle and that’s why they are a vehicle’s “lifeline”. Our lives have evolved as the tyre industry progressed over the time. But somehow till now this component’s impact has been continuously ignored by the people. Unsafe tyres are one of the many reasons for road fatalities every year across the world. Especially in the African and Asian countries where the population is not much aware of a tire’s technical know-how.

The concern has been recently shared in the South African Tyre Manufacturers’ Conference urging all road users to give utmost priority to the safety of their vehicle’s tyres before they set off on a journey. As per their records, on an average 14000 lives are lost each year in the road collisions.

Truth is that people would not have lost their lives if right kind of tyres were being used and if they had a bit of knowledge about tyre maintenance.

In order to avoid serious fatalities attributed to tyres, follow these steps and keep yourself and your family safe:

● Buy the best tyre you can because the quality tyres are much more likely to last longer than inferior ones. And they will provide good grip on the roads even after getting old.

● Tyres are not ‘fit and forget’ item, they need continuous maintenance and look after. They should be regularly checked, the tyre pressure should be maintained appropriately (see your car’s user manual for optimum air pressure), and look for the cuts in the tyres, the bulges should also be checked by a tyre expert. Replace the tyres if they exhibit wear and tear. Ideally, tyres should be replaced after every six years, regardless of use. Better go for analysis at the nearest tyre expert.

● Check wheel balancing and alignment at regular intervals. Correctly balanced tyres reduce vibration and make journey smoother thereby improving the overall life cycle of the tyres.

● While changing tyres, make sure that you change all the four tyres at once. If you can’t change all the four tyres, at least go for changing them in pairs.

● With the front-wheel drive car, if the front tyres are worn out then swap it with the rear ones. And put the new tyres on the rear. Repeat it as necessity arises. In this way, one will keep fresh rubber with decent tread in the rear axle even if the tyre ages.

So now as you have learnt some cool tips to maintain tyres, we are sure you will have a fabulous ride in your car…!

  • Since quality tyres usually last longer and are able to have a better grip, they are probably a good idea. In order to ensure they work properly, you’d probably want to get the ones that are the proper size and make for your vehicle. When choosing the tyres, you’d probably want to visit a shop that works with your type of vehicle so that you can be sure they carry the correct ones.

We must buy good quality tires as these will last long & will provide good grip on the road. Tire pressure must be checked regularly. According to the user’s manual it must be maintained .The tires must be checked by a tire expert. If excess wear & tear is visible, then tires must be replaced.
