As per the study conducted by the JD Power 2017 US Original Equipment Tyre Customer Satisfaction, it has been revealed that around 37 percent of the owners, who replaced the tyres of their vehicles, usually go for that particular tyre brand which was originally fitted to the vehicle. Tyre brands that came as the original equipment with the vehicles have the highest market share when their owners replace at least two tyres during the first two years of ownership. Among the Original Equipment, the highest share was assigned to Michelin (21%), Goodyear (12%), Continental (11%), Bridgestone (11%), and Pirelli (7%).

According to the Senior Director of JD Power, tyre manufacturers who have their products fitted to new vehicles have a greater advantage over their competitors. As long as the customer is satisfied with the original equipped tyres’ performance, there is a natural tendency that consumer will select the same brand for the replacement.

It was also found in the study that luxury vehicle owners, when compared to mass market vehicle owners, more frequently purchase the original equipment tyre brand for their vehicle.

In this study, the Michelin ranked first in all the four segments of the tyres i.e. Luxury, Passenger car, Performance Sport and Utility.
