Read here the lesser-known facts about New Maruti Dzire. Know what is new and surprising in it.

Making its global debut in India on April 24, 2017, the new Maruti Dzire was finally launched on May 16 this year. The compact sedan now looks more upmarket with charismatic looks and plethora of hi-tech features making their way in it. It isn’t a facelift it’s a complete makeover inside out. This is the most significant upgrade since its inception a decade ago. With the price starting at Rs 5.45 lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi), the new generation model is not quite expensive compared to its predecessor. In fact, the starting price is Rs 6,556 lower than its earlier LXi counterpart. The car has already received an overwhelming response from its fans in the country and is attracting a booking of 2-3 months. You must have read most of the aspects that prevail in the New Dzire 2017 but these seven will surprise you. Have a look.

1. Swift nameplate dropped

A car, which was always termed as a sedan version of its hatchback cousin, the Swift has dropped the ‘Swift’ nameplate. This acknowledges the fact that the Dzire has emerged as a brand in itself and no longer suffers from identity crisis. At times the sales of the Dzire have outpaced Swift’s, indicating the massive popularity that this sedan enjoys in the country.

2. Before Swift

This is the first time in the decade-old history of the Dzire that the sedan has been launched ahead of the hatchback. With the kind of response that Dzire is garnering, it has become a completely different brand in its own. The makers wanted to affirm this fact by launching it before the next-gen Swift and it has certainly paid off.

3. Increased Tensile Steel

Sharing a lighter Heartech platform which also underpins the Baleno, the Dzire has become lighter yet stronger than its predecessor. The high tensile steel ensures the car body is strong. Earlier, the Dzire was built with 20 percent of it and now, the share has gone up to 36 percent making Dzire stronger than ever.

4. Increased Mileage

The drop in weight has lead to an increase in the mileage of the new Maruti Dzire. The petrol Dzire now delivers a fuel economy of 22.0kmpl (up by 5.5 percent) whereas the diesel one returns an impressive fuel efficiency of 28.4kmpl (up by 6.8 percent).

5. AMT Right From The Second Variant

Another biggest change in the new Dzire is the availability of the AMT option right from the second ‘V’ variant in both the petrol and diesel trims.

6. Three New Shades

If looks, performance and features weren’t enough, Maruti Suzuki also added three new exciting shades to its Dzire sedan – Oxford Blue, Sherwood Brown and Gallant Red. All three colours are soothing to look at and are among the preferred ones as seen in its bookings so far.

7. Boot Space

The new Dzire is not only about design and features; it’s about practicality too. The boot, which always appeared as an afterthought, is now in sync with the overall design. Not only this, even space has gone up to 378 litres – an increase of 62 litres.
