Dear Impy,
Wagon R VXI comes fitted with 155/65 R14 sized tyres. The correct upsize for Wagon R will be 165/65 R14.
By upsizing to 165/65 R14, the ground clearance of the car will increase by 2.3% and it will also increase the grip while cornering, without affecting the performance of the car.
For 165/65 R14 you can go for this particular tyre from Bridgestone https://www.tyremarket.com/Product/2169/Car-Tyres/Bridgestone-S322-165-65-R-14-Tubeless-79-T-Car-Tyre.

can i fit 165/80 R14 on my WagonR LXI?
currently it has 145/80 R13
Dear Saeesh,
It is advisable not to fit 165/80 R14 in place of 145/80 R13, as the difference in the circumference is more than 10% which is not recommended for upsizing a tyre. We recommend you to go with the OE fitted size for fuel saving and longer tyre life.

I am considering upsizing of tyres but not sure of the correct size. It is currently running on 155/65 R14. Also, How is the tyre size determined? What is 155? 65? Does R stands for Rim size?
If I upsize to 165/65 R14, How will it affect the economy of the vehicle? Can I go for 175/65 R14? If yes, what effect will it have on the economy of the vehicle?
Dear Garvit,
Tyre size is read as the first number from the left is the width of the tyre in mm, and the second number from the left is the percentage of the width for sidewall. The Alphbet in the third position talks about the tyre construction type. And the last number from the left stands for the rim size in inches and measured as of the diameter and not the radius.
Example: 155/65 R 14.
155 is the width of the tyre. 65% of 155 is the sidewall width. R stands for Radial tyres and 14 is the rim size in inches.
Upsizing to 165/65 14 will not have a great difference on the car’s economy but any changes made apart from the original fitment will have a difference in the fractions. 175/65 R 14 will however be wider and the turning space between the tyre and fenders might be hindered. Hence, upsizing to 165/65 R 14 is safer than 175/65 R 14 in terms of economy and performance. But choosing the Original size is always the best option.
Thanks

Hello Team,
I have Wagon R LXI CNG 2011 Model. I have to change my 4 tyres. Current Size installed is 145/80 R13. Can i replace it with 155/70 R13. Will there be any impact on Mileage or Suspension. And which company tyres you guys suggest me install.
Thanks.
Dear Vivek Rai,
You can replace your tyres to 155/70 R13. There will be no major impact on mileage or suspension. But the difference will be in decimals whenever you change the tyres from stock to upsize. Bridgestone, Yokohama, Apollo and Goodyear are recommended tyres for city use with occasional touring as they provide good grip and have decent wear resistance.
Please follow the link for stock tyres: https://www.tyremarket.com/Search/Car-Tyres/Maruti-Wagon-R-tyre-prices Or and this link for 155/ 70 R 13: https://www.tyremarket.com/Search/Car-Tyres/155-70-R13

I want to replace tyres of my Wagon r vxi 2013. Rim size 14. I use car only for 2-3 kms every day. Please suggest suitable options.
Dear Deepak,
If you particularly want to upsize to 14-inch rims 165/65R 14 should be fine. Amazer 3G Maxx or ceat milaze x3 or jk tyre Ultima sport are decent options since the travel requirement is only in the city for short distances. Go through the link for detail of tyre https://www.tyremarket.com/Search/Car-Tyres/165-65-R14.
Thanks
Hello,
I own a Wagon R VXI with ABS 2016 model. I want to replace all 5 tyres as my car has already run 55k kms & all 5 tyres are worn out. It has the stock Apollo 3G tyres (166/65/R 14/75T) at the moment. Have a couple of questions:
1) Which is the best tyre I should buy? My daily usage is about 20 kms, so I drive roughly about 600 kms in a month primarily in city roads. Roads in my area are full of potholes & dirt, so looking out for a rugged tyre which last for 5-6 yrs without much wear & tear. Please suggest!
2) Should I upsize my tyres? Please advise on a suitable size & make
2) How safe is installing TPMS procured from AliExpress? Does anyone here have experience with TPMS procured from there?
Thanks!
Dear Venkatesh Srinath,
1) You can opt for Apollo Amazer 4G Life, Firestone FR500, Goodyear DP-C1 or Goodyear DP- H1. All of the above will give you a good tyre life under circumstances described by you. Please follow a link to explore options: https://www.tyremarket.com/Search/Car-Tyres/165-65-R14
2) We suggest you do not go for any type of upsizing as it does not add any advantage in the circumstances you have mentioned.
3) We are sorry but since do not have any experience towards tpms systems sold on AliExpress, we will not be able to comment on the same. However, you can opt for Treel TPMS systems by JK Tyres. They are available in our stores currently and will be available on our website in due time.
Thanks

Thank You for your reply. Just a slight correction, the tyres currently on my vehicle is 155/65/R14/75T. Do you still suggest I should go for 165/65/R14.
Also, does changing the tyre with a different speed index advisable? Mine is currently 75 T, should I keep this same or change?
Amongst the tyres mentioned, which one would be rugged & comfortable in riding?
Hi,
If your current tyre size is 155/65 R 14 then we suggest you stick to the same. you need to pay close attention to changing the speed rating and load index only if your vehicle has been modified to endure/perform beyond the standard specifications of speed and load. But note that opting for tyres with a lower speed rating and load index compared to the existing spec would prove to be fatal and opting for higher speed rating and load index will surely yield no ill effects. Please follow the link for 155/65 R14 tyre options: https://www.tyremarket.com/Search/Car-Tyres/155-70-R14.
We suggest you consider Apollo Amazer 4G life as it provides a decent grip in city usage along with good tyre life.
Thanks

How can I assured that I will get original tyres of concern company ?
Dear Bena,
First and foremost, Tyre manufacturing is not as easy as imagined so fake products haven’t been seen in the market so far. But the refurbished tyres are plenty and they are sold to people as original brand new tyres. Few things to keep in mind while buying tyres to ensure they are really brand new are as follows:
– Check the DOT. Although there are a lot of sellers out there who sell tyres with DOT of 5 -6 years old, not all of them are fake. Besides a Tyre which is 5-6 years old stored under proper conditions is as good as fresh DOT tyres. But Keep the DOT in mind while you check other aspects as follows.
– Check the tread pattern. Some refurbished tyres will have irregular patterns and will be sharp edges as compared to original tyres. This is because the Tyre’s patterns have been re-traced with the help of simple box cutters or knives and will be done by hand, hence leaving a not so clean finish.
– Check the depth of the treads. On an average, a brand new Tyre’s tread depth will be 8mm deep (This may vary on the type of Tyre. Please check with the brand). Refurbished tyres will not have that kind of depth. And the depth between grooves, ribs, sipes etc will be abnormally irregular.
– Check for Rubber hair. All brand new tyres will come with rubber hair on the surface and they are next to impossible to recreate perfectly while refurbishing tyres. Although they serve an entirely different purpose as air vents. This is a great indicator.
tyremarket.com deals only with 100% original products. If you have any concerns, you can ask to inspect the tyres before they are fitted at the fitment centre and check for the above-mentioned indicators.
Thanks

I have Lxi model 2013 model suggest me which type of Tyre preferred
Dear Manoj,
Stock Wagon R LXi tyre size is 145/80 R 14. If you are looking for mostly city use along with occasional touring highway use you can opt for CEAT Milaze X3 or Apollo Amazer 4G Life. Both of the options provide decent grip along with long tyre life. But if you are looking for comparatively better grip you can go for Yokohama Earth-1 E400 as this tyre uses a softer compound which gives you excellent grip with a little lesser tyre life when compared to the earlier mentioned options. Please follow the links to explore:

i want to buy 4 tyres for my wagon R LXI 2004 Model , I am using 145/70/R13 , But i want to get more grip and road clearance can u refer for me
Hi Anil,
“If you are looking for mostly city use along with occasional touring highway use you can opt for CEAT Milaze X3 or Apollo Amazer XL. Both of the options provide decent grip along with long tyre life. But if you are looking for comparatively better grip you can go for Continental ContiComfortContact CC5 as this tyre uses a softer compound which gives you excellent grip with a little lesser tyre life when compared to the earlier mentioned options. Please note that if you are looking for ground clearance just changing tyres is not the solution as changing tyres will probably increase the height by hardly a half centimeter or so. Please consider getting some suspension work after consulting your technician.

which size Tyre company recommend for maruti wagon r VXI 2009 MODEL. present size is 155/65 R13 in my car is it ok or 155/80 R13 is ok?
Hi,
Up sizing to 155/80 R 13 from 155/65 R13 will not be a good idea as the difference will stand at 8.75% which is way higher than the safer 3% difference margin we recommend. This up- size can lead to a lot of problems, least of which will be in efficient handling due to scraping the fenders to problems in your suspensions, axles, drive- shafts thank to the increased pressure. We always suggest you stick to stock tyres as vehicle manufacturers do a lot of R&D before arriving at a particular option. However if you must up- size you can go with 185/70 R13 which has a difference of 1.8%. Assuming that you wanted to go with 155/80 R13 with the intention of increasing the ground clearance, any kind of upsize with the same rim size will barely bump the height by a centimeter. For better ground clearance please consult your technician and consider doing some work your car’s suspensions and the up- sizing the tyres. Follow link to explore options over 185/70 R13: https://www.tyremarket.com/Search/Car-Tyres/185-70-R13

Hi may wagon r stock tyre is Goodyear 155/65 R14. car run around 22000 kms in 5 years. But one of the tyre is cracked from the sides. and rest seems more than half life. can you suggest me better option for my car.
Hi Team,
Mine is Wagon R VXI petrol 2017 model and the tyre currently using in Apollo amazer 3G, 155/65 R14 75T.
Please advise on upsizing the tyres for better grip on road especially in corners.
Also recommend tyre with comfort, mileage and grip with similar size.
Thanks in Advance
Dear Sir,
“You can upsize to 165/ 65 R14. This upsize will increase the contact patch for better grip while still maintaining the side wall height and keeping the difference at 2.3%. You can opt for Goodyear Duraplus DP-C1 or Ceat Milaze X3 as both of them provide decent grip along, lower road noise and durability. They perform well under normal city driving conditions as well as occasional touring. But you can also choose Bridgestone B- series B290 which gives excellent performance on the overall. Please follow links to explore the options mentioned:

Hi,
“Hi, the reason for early wearing of your previous tyres might be a production fault or due to tyres not apt for the terrain. But you can opt for JK Tornado/ Bridgestone S-series S322/ Apollo Amazer 4G Life as all these options provide excellent durability and decent grip. They perform equally well during occasional touring. Please follow links to explore options:

I want to change all 4 tyres of wagon R LXI Sep 2018 ,as per catalogue the size is 145/70R13, kindly suggest tyre company and size
Hi Vipin,
“We always recommend sticking to stock tyre size as the car manufacturers pick the most compatible tyre sizes after extensive R&D under various conditions. You can opt for Ceat Milaze X3 if your usage is only for the city with occasional touring as these tyres provide decent grip along with durability and long tyre life. If you are looking for a comfortable drive experience above all you can go for Continental ContiComfortContact CC5. But if you are looking for excellent over all performance in terms of fuel efficiency, long tyre life and a smoother drive quality you can go for Bridgestone Ecopia EP150.
