2017 Maruti Suzuki Desert Storm Rally

The ongoing Maruti Suzuki Desert Storm Rally 2017 is taking the adventure to a new high by storm. After the flag-off ceremony in New Delhi (Noida) the competitors travelled to Hanumangarh for the Stage 1. Besides Team Maruti and other well-known race teams, this time India’s leading tyre portal, Tyremarket.com, is also participating in the prominent motorsport event. With a team of two determined racers in the form of Arjun and Jathin, Team Tyremarket was seen all pepped up to take on the competitive traverse through the Thar Desert. The duo with their car tagged with No. 308 is contending in the Xplore category of the 2017 Desert Storm Rally.

Desert Storm Rally IndiaOn Tuesday, the Day 2 of the 15th edition saw Team Tyremarket racers Jathin and Arjun covering a distance of 420 kilometers (between Bikaner and Jaisalmer), out of which 170 kilometers consisted of a competitive route. The day started at sharp 06:45:00 hrs with the competitive route starting at 08:27:00 hrs. Though the day didn’t end on a high note as far as results and performance are concerned. However, it fetched great experience as the team got wedged in the desert sand for the first time in the event. Besides making up the lost time, the team also had to deal with was many pile ups due to many amateur drivers. Here nearly all the competitors showcased sportsmanship and gave a hand to the fellow drivers as and when. The stage concluded at 16:49:00 hrs and the racers reached the final location of Hotel Brys Fort at Jaisalmer at 20:00:00 hrs, with results awaited.

The day one that concluded at Bikaner saw the participants covering an overall distance of about 250 kilometers via rough sandy dunes crossing Hardaswali and Arjansar regions under testing conditions. In the extreme category, on day 1, Team Maruti’s Suresh Rana together with his navigator Ashwin Naik was seen leading the first leg. Whilst in the Moto category, Dakar Rally fame C S Santosh, completed as the leader in the first leg followed by Tanveer Abdul Wahid and R Nataraj, who finished close to the third spot. Moreover, the Ndure category witnessed Debajyoti Nath and Arindam Ghosh topping the charts in the first leg. And lastly, in the Xplore category, Nipun Agarwal along with his co-driver Kabir Mansharamani finished at the first position.
