Chevrolet Spark is the entry level car that competed with the models such as Hyundai’s Eon, Maruti’s Alto 800 and Alto K10, and Tata’s Nano and Tiago in the Indian budget car segment. In fact, the Spark was the global model, and the model that was sold in India is from the previous generation which was discontinued in the American and European markets. Currently, Chevrolet has announced that Chevrolet Spark will no longer be in production in the Indian market from 2018 onwards.

Chevrolet Spark is powered by 1.0 litre three-cylinder petrol engine that generates 90 Nm peak torque and 62 bhp peak power. This front wheel drive hatch has 3 trims – Base, LS, LT with the mid-level and top end variants having optional LPG kit. The engine of the car is mated to a 5 speed manual transmission.
Since the Chevrolet Spark was a bit larger in size than its competitors in the budget car segment, it was bit costlier than the rest. Apart from being bigger in size, another factor for its popularity was its extended warranty with low maintenance cost, which eventually brings down the Chevrolet Spark’s ownership cost.
But with the launch of newer and attractive models by other Indian and foreign car makers, Spark lost its appeal. Hence, the company was forced to discontinue its production.
Before being discontinued, Chevy Spark was offerd at the price of INR 3.63 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Its 4 cylinders 995 cc SMARTECH petrol engine was claimed to deliver 16.20 kmpl under standard conditions.
Suited for Indian roads having a good ground clearance of 170 mm, Chevrolet Spark’s dimensions are read 3,495 mm (length), 1,495 mm (width) and 1,518 mm (height). The hatchback has a kerb weight of 840 kg, with a boot space of 170 lts. This car comes with disc brakes for front and drum for rear.
As far as comfort and convenience is concerned, this model comes with AC, Heater, Power outlets 12V and Keyless Entry. For Safety and Security features it is equipped with Engine Immobilizer, Central Locking, Child Safety Lock, Power Door Lock and Headlamp Beam Adjuster.
