World’s leading carbon black additives manufacturer, Birla Carbon has announced the hike in the carbon black prices in Europe and Africa. The prices will be increased by 70 Euros per metric tonne, net of price monthly variation. The revised rates will be effective from 1 July 2017. There have been many reasons that led to the increase in the prices, with some major being unfavourable market sentiments, raw material costs and increasingly strict regulatory requirements.
According to the carbon company, it will utilise the funds for continued re-investment in its carbon black manufacturing facilities. Birla Carbon became the largest manufacturer of carbon black globally after the acquisition of Columbian Chemicals Company. The carbon giant has worldwide presence including regions such as South America, North America, Europe and Africa, South East Asia and the Far East, and South Asia and the Middle East. The patented carbon blacks used in the vehicle tyres are designed to enhance treadwear and trim down rolling resistance while maintaining adequate grip levels. Birla Carbon produces applications for racing tyres, ultra high-performance tyres, passenger car tyres, truck tyres and bus tyres.
