Indian tyre major, Apollo Tyres Ltd. has unveiled a new addition to the Vredestein range named as Vredestein Wintrac Pro, an ultra-high performance winter tyre at the recently concluded Tyre Cologne Show held at the German city of Cologne.
The Wintrac Pro tyre initially will be available in 35 sizes and later will be extended to 100 sizes. The tyre will come with a diameter of 17 inches and higher which will offer reliable performance, short stopping distances on wet roads, maximum grip while cornering. It will also offer great handling, even at high speeds.
Apollo Vredstein B.V. has claimed that the tyre has been constructed using patented resin combined with high silica content in the tread compound. This means that Wintrac Pro offers improved handling and braking on snow, ice and wet conditions.
The Wintrac Pro is available with a speed rating of ‘Y’ which means that it can easily handle the speed up to 185 mph (300 kmph approx.) for several sizes. Wintrac’s tread is specially developed to assist better handling on snow. It features central grooves and shoulder sipes strategically positioned at sharp angles. The tyre’s horizontal sipes in the central area are designed for better braking and acceleration. To improve water evacuation and offer better performance on wet surface the tread has long, oval-shaped footprints or contact patches.
Apollo has told the media that during the testing of Wintrac Pro it achieved an improvement of more than 15% in handling on snow and 10% in wet braking, outperforming its predecessor, the Wintrac Xtreme S. The company also stated that the Wintrac Pro is performing at the top of the ultra-high performance segment.
The tyre has been manufactured for the new BMW 5-Series, Mercedes C-Class, Porsche, Audi A6, Tesla, Volvo V90 and other premium brands. It will be available in the markets of North America as well as Europe soon. Read Tyre Industry News Here…!
